It must be a characteristic of all species of more-or-less self-aware individuals that those individuals will tolerate youngsters up to a point… but not past that point. Ringo will learn that limit as she ages, but her education will probably involve a few paw-swipes by Dot at Ringo’s head.

Come to think of it, those kids that do cannonballs into the pool right outside my window may eventually learn my limits, though I’ll call the apartment office (or tell the kids’ parents if I know them) rather than threaten any physical harm… indeed, the possibility of physical harm to them is exactly what worries me; it’s a shallow pool. But a grownup can only tolerate so much from a kid or a kit, as Dot knows.
