Before It Slips Away

As has become the custom in recent years we have the al Qaeda pre-election tape:

Calling President Bush “the murderer and spiller of Muslim blood,” al Qaeda’s top deputy released a videotape Friday accusing the U.S. president of being a “deceitful charlatan” who has lied to the American people.

Ayman al-Zawahiri also blasts the Bush administration for holding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, an alleged 9/11 conspirator, in a secret prison and alleging that Mohammed gave interrogators “valuable information which has helped the crusaders to kill and arrest a number of al Qaeda.”

“I ask this lying failure, who are the leaders of al Qaeda whose killing or capture was facilitated by the information extracted from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?” al-Zawahiri asks. “Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, may Allah free him, has hurt you thousands of times more than you have hurt him.”

I’m beginning to suspect that al Qaeda does this to help the Shrubbery with elections. They have been extremely consistent in issuing these tapes, and have to know that they generally benefit the Republicans.

No, I’m not suggesting there is a link between al Qaeda and Karl Rove. I’m merely commenting on this biennial custom.

Well…if you were Al Qaeda – wouldn’t you want to help maintain the group in power that regularly falls into your pre-determined traps over The *clash of civilizations* and is your BEST recruitment tool EVER? Of course it’s no mistake – and they know who it benefits – THEM – by keeping idiots and religious war mongering (but incompetent) jerks in power!

…must. not. blogwhore….

…but, sadly, I wasn’t as circumspect as you about any connection, although I agreed completely with the remarkable coincidence of timing. I mean, he could have just as easily called Gee Dub a loser back in January…

I think it’s pretty obvious that any enemy of the United States would prefer to have George W. Bush unfettered in leadership versus almost any other possible leadership scenario.

The worst of all possible administrations: a guy trying to show up his Dad tied to a crew trying to out-Nixon Nixon.

When you give power to “true believers”, this is the result.

I had noticed this phenomenon a while back. However, the al Qaeda tapes always seem to pop up whenever the preznit sticks his foot in his mouth, or one of his flunkies gets into hot water.

Remind me again who it was that got Osama bin Laden into the terrorist business in the first place. Wasn’t it some American trying to harrass the Soviets in Afghanistan?

Just sayin’…

Geez, next you’ll bring up that the textbooks used in the fundamentalist madrassas in Pakistan were printed by the University of Nebraska at Omaha and paid for by US tax dollars. Or possibly that we knew the coordinates of the terrorist training locations in Afghanistan because we built them.

Everyone’s a critic.

The tapes are as regular as A Charlie Brown Christmas, half as often, but at least as predictable in content. All they need is music by the late great Vince Guaraldi. Maybe one of their martyrs could take time out from his virgins to try to hire Vince…

I’ve said it many times: Bush and Osama need each other. Without a ready-made enemy, neither one is nearly as powerful in his own society. Are these tapes really such a surprise?
