"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

There’s nothing like a good freeze to encourage sharing a bed. It’s that, or find a down comforter by oneself… and that’s cold comfort!
Great. Now I’m going to be hearing Barbara Bach, in a fake Russian accent, talking about “Shared bodily warmth” in my head all day.
Ah it is what cats like to do.. I can look across the living room and see three cats all curled up to the not-wife. They ALL look very contented!
Friday Ark #124…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Do link to the…
Kitty pile!
…odd, I never thought about that cold kitty thing under your circumstances. We have nightly battles during the winter with the kitty corps over just excactly who sleeps where on the bed late in the evening after the wood stove has cooled off, but I just never made that connection for places like the Florida panhandle…
Fortunately, Steve, when I get in they have their separate favorite spots, Sox keeps my feet warm, Dot comes under the covers on my right side, and Ringo prefers keeping her nose warm by sticking it under my beard.
Barbara Bach can talk?! Gee, I never noticed, Michael.
This is the only time they can all be this close together, Jams, without someone starting a wrestling match or Dot clipping the other two to remind them who’s the boss.
I can’t have your site up when Ringo’s in the room, LK, or she’ll want the same kind of service Coby gets.
The construction is based on the 30° temperature differential for air conditioning, Jack, to bring the temperature from 100° down to 70°. When a cold front moves through and the wind is out of the north there is not much to stop the temperature from dipping below freezing . These spells are short, as the Gulf has 60° water in the winter, so as soon as the wind shifts the temperature shoots back up. Central heat is not all that common in houses more than 20 years old, and my house is more than 50 years old.
I wish Kaylee would stop moving long enough to get cute pictures. We’re thinking of renaming her (again) to Mazda. Zoom, zoom, zoom…

Heh. Whereas I was never interested in anything else she could do but talk.
Anya, put out a heating pad and then open a window. She be happy to pose in the heating pad.
I assumed that you weren’t the demographic that was responsible for Barbara Bach being in movies, Michael.
Those cats have the right idea. They really look cute, piled there, together:)
OWL, you could have a kitty karpet with your crew.
Gotta love it.
After 18 years, Feak has discovered it’s warm to lay in front of the fireplace. (Now you know why we call her BBS – Beautiful But Stupid…lol) Eventually I will have the camera when she is in front of it – if I notice it, and go get the camera, my-shadow-the-dog follows me, then the dog notices her, too, and she runs off….
Feak at least is a long hair, but at 18 she would still feel the chill.
