The Games They Play

Everything is politics with these people.

CNN reports that War efforts funded through July, analysis finds, but the Shrubbery and his Chairman of the Joint Chiefs have a different story:

President Bush and Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have said the Pentagon needs Congress to approve additional war funding by April 15, or military operations will begin to be affected.

Pierre Tristam plotted the other line of attack yesterday in Swine Story, i.e. that the Shrubbery will claim the bill is filled with “pork barrel” projects [like the money promised to people recovering from hurricanes and rebuilding the New Orleans flood barriers].

On cue in his weekly liar-side chat Bush vows to veto Iraq war bill; vet says it should pass:

President Bush, seeking to one-up Congress’ Democratic majority in a showdown over the Iraq war, suggested Saturday that lawmakers should be ashamed that they added non-war items to an Iraq spending bill.

“I like peanuts as much as the next guy, but I believe the security of our troops should come before the security of our peanut crop,” Bush said in his weekly radio address, referring to a provision in the war funding legislation that earmarks $74 million for secure peanut storage.

Excuse me, the agricultural elements are part of a supplemental appropriation to cover disasters. The funds for the military should have been in the main budget that was submitted, but the entire war has been funded off budget, so the Shrubbery can lie about the deficits he is racking up.

Excuse me IF I am wrong…but show me one of His *supplemental emergency spending bill* for the past 5 years that did NOT include these kinds of expenditures! And Off- Budget is one of their many *magic asterisks* of the war funding!

Every one of them has had pork thrown that wasn’t even remotely “emergency funding” and these hypocrites know it.

What I wanna know is, how these slimeballs can call the money that they PROMISED in The Photo-Op Of All Fucking Time, to New Orleans and the Gulf South — how in the FUCK do they call it “pork”???

Oh, wait, I forgot. BLACK PEOPLE EAT PORK, so any money to help poor majority-black areas is “WASTEFUL.” Not that there weren’t an assload of poor white, asian, hispanic, et al, who were affected by Katrina, but what the klan-wannabes at the White House remember is all of those black people at the Dome and the Convention Center, calling ’em “REFUGEES” like they just got here from Haiti.

Sorry, I’m still pissed.

The thing that really pisses me off are the number of people who think that Federal aid poured into the Gulf Coast after the hurricanes in 2004 and 2005. There was a lot of talk, and a lot of money spent, but it didn’t reach the coast. They should look at the little towns in Mississippi, if they want to see how badly things have gone. Mississippi has a Republican governor and Senators, they weren’t constantly lied about in the media. Mississippi, outside of the casino area, is in no better shape that New Orleans. They are no further along than the southern parishes. They have no more chance of coming up with matching funds, than Louisiana.

Government contractors are the only people who have seen any real money.

Two and a half years later, and FEMA has still not agreed on the rules for removing debris from hurricane Ivan. We still have piles of crap lying around waiting to be hauled off so people who have the money can rebuild.

If they didn’t stick the money in emergency bills, there wouldn’t be any money until after September.
