There was a lot of talk, and a lot of money spent, but it didn't reach the coast. They should look at the little towns in Mississippi, if they want to see how badly things have gone. Mississippi has a Republican governor and Senators, they weren't constantly lied about in the media. Mississippi, outside of the casino area, is in no better shape that New Orleans. They are no further along than the southern parishes. They have no more chance of coming up with matching funds, than Louisiana. Government contractors are the only people who have seen any real money. Two and a half years later, and FEMA has still not agreed on the rules for removing debris from hurricane Ivan. We still have piles of crap lying around waiting to be hauled off so people who have the money can rebuild. If they didn't stick the money in emergency bills, there wouldn't be any money until after September.
