Hatch has been running around saying that Carol Lam, the US Attorney removed from her post in San Diego, was appointed to her position by Bill Clinton, having been a law school professor with no experience.
Ms. Lam joined the Justice Department during the Reagan administration, and was appointed a US Attorney by George W. Bush after the “careful examination of her credentials” by the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by ORRIN HATCH.

And Lam was never a professor, and she had 15 years of experience as a prosecutor before her appointment. (Source: TPM or one of its affiliates, sometime today.)
You are far too kind to Orrin Hatch in allowing him the senility defense. Indeed, senile people I’ve known, like stopped old-fashioned clocks with hands, are right at least twice a day. Hatch is wrong on every count in this matter… do you think that could be only from faulty memory?
The man is just lying. He’s still on the Judiciary Committee and any staffer could provide him with Ms. Lam’s employment record. She went from law school to clerk for an appellate court judge to the Justice Department. All government jobs, all in the public record, all recorded in her employment file.
I offer the senility defense because he has been around too long to have any expectation of getting away with this crap. If he isn’t senile, he’s a lying, arrogant ass.

There was a time when Hatch had some integrity, but he’s hung around with the Shrubbery too long. He has lost every shred of self respect. This White House corrupts everything it touches.
They have become so blatant about it because the media refuse to do their job. If Jack Anderson was still alive, they would never try this garbage. I guess that fact checking is so 20th century.
