If Stella's faucets had paddles, her cats could run up the water bill for the whole apartment complex. They love running water more than any cats I've ever known. And Samantha, at least, is curious and meddlesome enough to figure out those paddles.

And yes, we keep the toilets completely closed.

Ringo is a "sink cat," as was my door walker, Koshka. I have no idea why, but at least Ringo has never mastered the faucets, something that Koshka figured out. [The handles have "paddles" that can be pushed with a paw.]

I cat sit for some friends of mine who have a cat Spider (aka Goober) who is quite literally a feline bowling ball. She can still hurl her hefty orb of a body onto high places.

She prefers drinking her water out of the bathroom sink, so when you hear a THUD...THUD...you know she's made it up the toilet and then the counter top.

Actually, Jill, Dot at floor level is pretty untypical. She's normally on something, not as high as Ringo, but she can and does jump.

Ah, you have struck at the heart of the problem, Jams. Between being considered a secondary food source, and the failure of the kittens to recognize the difference when Dot starts thumping her tail, it has been a bit of a trial.

She has it down to the same schedule as he wild cousins - 20 hours of rest to 4 hours of activity.

She definitely looks like a cat who is far too tired to be bothered by kittens. I hope none tried to suckle here!

Dot should make at least a cameo appearance in the next edition of Jon Stewart's America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction (sic).
