Sorry For The Interruption of Service

We were down for an hour because: Routing Issue

From: jdw

This problem appears to be resolved. The problem was an incorrectly-behaving router in the Global Crossing network.

Limelight is waiting for an explanation from Global Crossing, and we are waiting for the explanation from them. In the mean time, we will continue to monitor this situation.

Such situations are very frustrating for us. Since we are not a Global Crossing customer, we were entirely dependent on other people to resolve the problem, leaving us powerless to do anything but sit on our hands and try not to scream. While it took longer than we would have liked, they did get the problem fixed.

We apologize for the inconvenience and problems caused by this routing issue.

Third time this year? more? Not jdw’s fault, but I do hope he changes upstream providers. Still, overall, NFS has been vastly more reliable than my previous host; perhaps a “devil-you-know” approach is after all the best one here.

we might be outta power if this pesky wildfire moves 2 miles more to engulft the major link to the power grid to the City.

Would have been nice to have had some extra help to fight this fire, say, with the National Guard.

Agreed, Steve. I think they are about to change providers, because you can’t make any money if your network is down.

Jill, it’s like La Jolla and too many places in California, you are not on a “grid” like much of the rest of the country, with multiple paths, but on nodes with a single line.
