It is disheartening, especially when you have to get the heads off the line.

i vastly prefer fish when someone other than me has done the catching, cleaning, and cooking, but i'll definitely agree with you on the untrustworthiness of a lot of sources.

the one time i went deep-sea fishing, all my fish got eaten as i hauled them up through 37  miles of water. never again.

It had 200 pounds of innards, mostly the grouper the guys on the boat were actually trying to catch, but were being eaten by the shark every time they got caught.

Makos go after billfish in the Atlantic, so they are one of the more common shark catches. They show up in a lot of things unlabeled.

When it comes to fish, if I didn't catch it, I not interested in eating it. I have seen too much bad fish all over the world.

shark meat is delicious, but it takes a fair amount of preparation to make it edible. it's my understanding that an awful lot of the sharks that are caught don't end up as food [apart from the craze for sharkfin soup]. i'm of the if-you-kill-it-you-should-eat-it school, but 844 lbs of shark? that's a lot of milk, especially at $4/gallon [or more]. even i would probably balk at that.

They swim well off shore unlike the bull sharks. They are a favorite of big game fishermen because of their speed and leaping, and unfortunately appear on menus as a result.

makos aren't quite as dangerous to humans as white, tiger, and bull sharks, particularly in florida. they have got some seriously fearsome teeth though.

unfortunately for them, we attack and kill far more sharks than they do humans.
