I Get Mail

I’m sorry, but the guy from Frankfurt who is attempting to phish for Amazon account information really needs to do more research. All real Amazon mail starts with a recommendation that you buy something. If Amazon was in charge of the tsunami alert system they would recommend that you download a copy of Treading Water for Dummies to your Kindle, before they mentioned that a 30-foot wall of water would arrive in the next 15 minutes. More and better research is required.

For the group in Kansas that sent me a piece of literature suggesting that the Earth doesn’t actually move in an orbit around the Sun, and that this is just a “scientific theory” that ignores ancient writings and witnesses, I would suggest a couple of high school geometry classes as a starting point, because you aren’t nearly ready for a physics course. Putting them in print with color and graphics doesn’t make your concepts any less wrong. Really, go have a lie down and take your medication on a regular schedule.

You see, the earth is really this giant turtle, which revolves around and around what scientists call an “axis”.

Well… I must admit that the theory of the World on the backs of 4 elephants on the back of a giant turtle has some appeal. 😉 Of course… the Earth would have to be flat to make that practical, which would please many of course. LOL

I sometimes read my SPAM for a laugh. Sometimes I fell like replying and tell them how stupid and ignorant they are. Few are really well done and hard to spot, others are just abysmal! A 6 YO child could write better than some of these moronic phishers and spammers.

I have often wondered why turtles figure so prominently in so many celestial theories. Actually I wondered what they were smoking when they came up with those theories.

I want better spam, more craftsmanship. The English language is rich and I want to see some effort.

Are you sure the Kansas literature wasn’t actually just a slick bit of sarcasm regarding the “just a theory” of evolution?

The only spam I read is from my right-wing mailing lists. I learn the most interesting things there. Like, did you know that Obama is a Communist working to nationalize the U.S. economy? For true, we’re all gonna be slaves to the Obamination! And the Bible is now available on video for 1/4th the previous price, yes, 75% off! And please send your money to this charity that helps our wounded soldiers, the one where, when I check it out, less than 5% of the money actually makes it to the soldiers. Yes, reading my right-wing mailing lists is like a dip into an alternate reality where things like “facts” and “reason” are a liberal conspiracy…

When geocentric is part of the name, and it’s a 4-color brochure on card stock processed by a pro mailing company [carrier route sort and bar coded] these people are serious.

There’s a web site that is just as deluded and invokes a flavor of astrology, more than astronomy.

Oh, the creationism is inherent because not only is the Earth the center of the universe, the whole thing is only 6,000 years old.
