Give Him A Break

Boy, the way people are bashing the GOP response to the not State of the Union speech is just vicious. They are picking on everything.

They didn’t like the opening. He just sort of appeared. Did they consider that he might have been supervising his security detail pulling drunks out of the Capitol Lake? I mean you have to expect that sort of thing when you do this on Mardi Gras in Louisiana. Give the guy a break. Not running for President is very time consuming and the Governor’s Mansion is a big place. Did they consider that he might have gotten lost looking for the Rotunda? He is newly elected and hasn’t spent much time in the building.

They didn’t like his tone, saying he sounded like he was taking to four-year-olds. What part of conservative Republican governor of Louisiana don’t they understand? He has to talk to the base of the party while he is not running for President, and a skilled speaker adjusts to his/her audience. Compared to the State of the Union Speeches delivered by the Shrubbery, Bobby was pushing the intellectual envelop, i.e he knew how to pronounce all the words. Rush Limbaugh liked it, so “Mission Accomplished”.

Update: I forgot to insert “bless his heart” every time I referred to Governor Jindal.

Yeah! Quit being mean to Bobby! I mean, he has to work at dumbing himself down, that’s the only way he can ever get elected in Loserana, and so he didn’t do that good a job of dumbing himself down (making it obvious), so what? He’s trying, at least! Just like those ridiculous shots of him preening with a shotgun with a brace of dead ducks at his feet, okay, so duck hunting is about as natural for Piyush as eating boudin (i.e., not very), but at least he tries! People need to just quit being mean to Piyush, he’s doing the best he can and can they do better? Sheesh!

Okay, so he hasn’t been as successful a fraud as the Shrubbery; he didn’t have the old family cash to pay for it.

Michael Dukakis was in the Army in Korea, but no one bought the tank episode.

John Kerry actually is a hunter, but no one bought the hunting sequence.

The Shrubbery is afraid of horses, but people think he’s a cowboy.

Jindal on the bayou would be ‘gator bait. He just can’t get all sweaty so he looks real.

There’s no accounting for conclusions.

Jindal is Ivy League and a Rhodes scholar. You have to descend to the lowest common denominator to get elected in the South. Some can be both Southern and intelligent, like Bill Clinton, Bob Graham, Jimmy Carter, but most are just Richard Shelby stupid. Jindal is trying to convince voters he is something he isn’t, ignorant, but he is definitely flawed in the ideology department.

Yeah, Jindal is about as redneck as a BMW 528i sedan. But for some reason Louisianians have adopted him as an “honorary redneck” anyhow. Oh, they know he’s not *really* a redneck. But he tries, bless his heart. And they appreciate it, they do, bless their hearts.

Little Bobby Jindal:
Do not fold or spindal.
Never mind the spindling…
Just use him for kindling;
Thus he’ll do his part,
Bless his little heart!

TPM says Jindal’s Katrina anecdote was made up. Bless his heart. That kid has such an imagination for a 6 year old’s brain.

Okay, the rescue did not go through because the boats were turned back, no matter what Sheriff Lee said. Lee probably did not stop the boats, which is why he was in trouble, but he had no part in organizing the effort, and FEMA did not allow rescuers to enter New Orleans as they wanted people to leave, without giving them any way to leave.

FEMA also blocked a convoy of people from Florida with their airboats from entering the area in exactly the same way with the National Guard.

I blogged about this at the time as it was reported by local news people, so I’m very familiar with the situation. FEMA had a blockade around New Orleans, and nothing could get in. Walking was the only way out.
