A Warning

EBW notes at Wampum that a reputable source is warning people about going to ‘wikileaks.info’. That is not an authorized WikiLeaks mirror site, and it would appear to he hosted by a large Russian phishing trawler. The host has been associated with malware, spam, and phishing operations for some time and is a dangerous place to even visit with your “shield up”.

EBW also mentions that he will be filing a complaint with the proper authorities about the conduct of the registrar of “wikileaks.org” in dropping the site without a court order. That is a violation of the ICANN rules for registrars.

For those who don’t know, you have to file a payment of nearly $190K with your application to become a registrar for a TLD, and provide proof of capabilities to handle the job. These are not shoe-string operations, and they should certainly be expected to deal with DDoS attacks.

LOL Yeah… 😀 That was good work by ebw, and The Spamhaus Project & Trend Micro (which is one of the very few AV products I ever recommend to people).

You better watch out Bryan… you may be a target soon! 😈 (and I’m only half joking). 😉

I was reading in out local paper this morning that Assange is beginning to get pretty pissed at many people. Which shows the level of stupidity of some people. 😉 Assange is one of the few people I wouldn’t want to annoy, whatever anyone may think of him personally. Besides, it seems most people fail to understand that whilst he may be the head of WikiLeaks, there are several other very bright people working for the organization. 🙂

WikiLeaks boss Julian Assange turns on everyone

There is a very old rule that Julian should have observed “Don’t dip your pen in the company inkwell.” He and his attorneys are attacking two WikiLeaks supporters, and that always leads to trouble. I would assume that some of the other people who have been volunteering in the WikiLeaks effort may be less than thrilled with what Julian has gotten up to, nor with his attitude.

WikiLeaks can’t simply be Assange or it fails. There are other intelligent people who have been involved for some time, and they can do this on their own, and some have already started with OpenLeaks.

Assange is certainly being hypocritical in his complaints about the Guardian “leaking” police reports. The reports are going to be made public at some point, I seem to remember it’s called a trial. He has been presenting his defense all along, and the papers have been printing them. Threatening people is not really a good way to win friends and gain support.

At this point I think we can officially say that Assange has jumped the shark.

I don’t get it. Any attorney would have told him to deal with it immediately, and don’t let it fester. At a minimum he should have just shut up and let his attorneys deal with it instead of making it a circus – deny the charges and let the attorneys do the talking. Hell, I’ve seen one of those non-apology apologies do wonders for some real scum, of course, that was with a jury system, but it might work with a judge.

Those guys show up with sites that involve current events. They are a major hemorrhoid even though they are well known in security circles. You have to backtrack the IP addresses to see the link.
