Belated Birthday Greetings

To Jillian of Cookies in Heaven & skippy the bush kangaroo, and the Fallenmonk.

It was yesterday, and I apologize for not acknowledging their arrival.

It was also the anniversary of the original Star Trek series, but I didn’t see the episodes until much later. Television was not as widespread in those days, as it is now, and certainly not where I was spending my time.

Currently about 205 miles [330 km] East-Northeast of Veracruz, Mexico.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Tampico to Veracruz.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Tampico to Punta el Lagarto.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Tampico to La Cruz.

Tropical Storm Wind Radius: 175 Miles [280 km].
Minimum central pressure: 1006 mb ↑.

Currently about 130 miles [ 210 km] North of Barbados.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for St. Maartin, Saba, St. Eustatius, Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Kitts, Guadeloupe, Dominca, the British Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for St. Barthelemy, St. Marteen, and Martinique.

Hurricane Katia – Day 12

Movement: East-Northeast [070°] near 46 mph [74 kph].
Maximum sustained winds: 85 mph [140 kph].
Wind Gusts: 105 mph [165 kph].
Tropical Storm Wind Radius: 265 miles [425 km].
Hurricane Wind Radius: 70 miles [110 km].
Minimum central pressure: 970 mb ↑.

Currently about 725 miles [1170 km] North-Northeast of Bermuda.

Katia has picked up the ‘polar spin’ which is why it has accelerated. All storms do it at the upper latitudes. It will transition to an extra-tropical storm within a day and continue on, possibly hitting northern Scotland or Norway with tropical storm force winds.
