Ho, Ho…Oh!

To put the Florida Panhandle in the ‘spirit’ the weather has provided us with: Tornado Watch, Flood Warning, High Surf Advisory, Coastal Hazard Statement [Rip Tides], Flash Flood Watch. You can’t have Christmas without Donner and Blitzen 😉

[For non-German speakers: Donner and Blitzen are thunder and lightning in German.]

Despite three attempts on its existence the Gävlebocken is still standing. There must be a lot of angst in Sweden for three different groups to attack a Christmas decoration. If they put their names up on the ‘Net I could tell them about some really offensive decorations that deserve to be eliminated, along with the factory that makes the plastic atrocities on display. If you think I’m being harsh, you haven’t lived next door to someone who has one of those inflatables with a pump that drones 24/7 from Halloween to the Super Bowl [the official end of the holidays for some people.] 😈

it’s still there… so far….

donner and blitzen were here, and it was suitably cold this morning, but it’s bright and sunny now, and supposed to warm back up soon. merry happy joyous whatever to you and yours!

And Happy Holidays to you and your ‘gang’, Hipparchia.

I was out stocking up on cat food a little while ago, and saw a sign “happy whatever doesn’t offend you.”

my neighbors are always very restrained with the Christmas decorations, so it’s been a nice quiet holiday.

The real ‘reason for the season’ was a pronouncement by Pope Julius I in the 4th century, because the scene set in the references to the Nativity in the Gospels are all for the spring in Palestine, not the winter.

Of course, people who insist on ‘Merry Christmas’ are going to be offended by everything except ‘Merry Christmas’ because they are bigots and don’t believed that other traditions should be acknowledged – just like the Taliban and ISIS.

I enjoy the lights, preferably multicolored, but most the figures are really tacky.
