The BBC reports on two aspirants – NSA shooting: One dead after car rams security gate.
These two fools disguised themselves as women and attempted to enter the NSA compound. The civilian NSA Police opened fire when they refused to follow orders to leave. One died at the scene, and the second went to the hospital. If they had gotten through the gate and managed to get to the building with the tires on their car shredded by the spikes, the internal force would have probably blown them to kingdom come. The force that guards NSA didn’t include an ‘Officer Friendly’ when I was there in 1960s, and it is unlikely they have gotten any nicer after 9/11.

But… the NSA likes chicks, right? Their plan would have worked if … uh.. Officer Friendly was distracted by their beauty and sex appeal and let them in as they had assumed… right?
The force that guards the NSA is now contractors, Bryan. Given the general quality of the lowest-bidder contractors that they hire, including one contract sysadmin who took the details of our nation’s most secret programs straight to our enemies in China and Russia, I wouldn’t assume anything about their quality. Especially given the butterbars they have “supervising” them, who are as clueless as the dregs that the contract security firms hire.
Yeah, we had trouble with these guys keeping their surveillance systems in operational order. It ain’t like the old days. SIGH.
In the old days the inner perimeter was guarded by Marines and the outer by the Army. Apparently Rumsfeld privatized anything that wasn’t directly related to combat.
These guys that get hired today don’t really have a lot of imagination, and the rules about access are clear. Failure to stop means you can fire your gun, that’s what they understand. The spikes are automatically deployed. They don’t have to think, just follow the script.
