Tax Day

Friday Cat Blogging

Property and Excise are 8 today.

The traditional theme music for the day on YouTube.

So, why did M$ decide to issue its monthly patches today, when people are using their computers to finish up their taxes?

happy birthday, property and excise!

The patches actually got pushed to Microsoft’s servers yesterday on Patch Tuesday (their usual patch day), but clearly your system only noticed it today. Since I’m running a Mac, that didn’t affect me.

They will say thank you, whenever they wake up from dinner, Hipparchia.

We always get them on Wednesday, Badtux, and have done for years in XP and both Win 7 machines. It is probably when they are made available via the mirror for this area used by my ISPs. Lots of things show up on the West Coast a day before we see them.

“If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet”

Do I get a 50% reduction in my per-foot tax? :-}>

Property and Excise are the only taxes I’m ever glad to see onscreen…

My computer has the habit of warning me before it will restart after updating, so I take the time to make a pot of coffee and catch up with the boner pill ads on early-morning TV.

You can only apply for the exception if you can find and fill out the proper form and submit it with proof of the claim. Inland Revenue isn’t a soft touch like the IRS 😉

The reference to ‘he gets 19 and you get 1’ reflected the fact that at the time the rate for income above £ 10,000 [$28,000] was 95%. There were 20 shillings in a pound so they only got to keep one shilling out of every pound they made over £ 10,000.

MB. the current process is much better than the fully automatic system of earlier versions that would simply reboot, ready or not, in the middle of the night. But if you are in the middle of filling out forms with multiple windows open, having to stop and wait for the for the reboot, then trying to remember which windows you need to open again, is a major PITA, especially if you are running out of time and sanity.

I’ve gone back to doing my taxes on paper. doing stuff online has, over the years, just plain become too problematic.

I didn’t learn about “my” (first) batch of kittens until a little later, so I’ve officially made their birthday may day of 2007. it seemed appropriate.

I don’t do them on-line, but after they stopped mailing out the packages I had to access the IRS site to get the forms I needed. I have a spreadsheet that does all of the calculations I needed.

May Day is a good day for kittens 😉
