Liquid Assets

Apparently there is more water in California than oil in the Chukchi Sea: Shell stops Arctic activity after ‘disappointing’ tests.

OTOH, it would appear that there is less water in California than there is on the Red Planet: Evidence of liquid water found on Mars

On the local front the average rainfall for the month of September is 4.31 inches. We got that from midnight to 5PM. Twice that amount for the entire month is certain.

That liquid water on Mars is apparently, according to Rush Limbaugh, part of a liberal conspiracy along with higher education, gravity, rain, organic produce, turtles, voting, sex, eclipses, Bambi, extension cords, and owls.

Alrighty, then!

OTOH, there is apparently less starch in Shell executives’ collars than there is acid in the letters written to them by members of all environmentalist org’s combined 😈 … seriously, enviro’s are taking credit for Shell’s standing down, and I believe it was the prez of Sierra Club expressed an awareness that Shell may simply be waiting until nobody is looking. As the character Ramone on the children’s animated series Peg+Cat often says, “we do what we can.”

Meanwhile, I’m fighting battles with two browsers and a webmail app (not to be confused with “two dogs and a bus”), so if I’m sometimes away for a day or two at a time, you’ll know the likely cause.

Bryan, I’m glad to see you’re supporting Bernie. I’m reading his obligatory book now, and what he says there convinces me even more that I’ve gotta vote for the guy. A genuinely progressive president… what a concept, one straight out of the Sixties!

If Rush thinks it’s wrong, past results would indicate that it has a 99% probability of being right. The Curiosity rover has already detected about 7% water per cubic foot of Martian soil. That’s about the same as new snow at -20°.

Steve, they spent $7 billion to drill a test well into what was supposed to be the center of the new field. Given the low oil prices they can’t afford to do any drilling up there. They started with oil about $100/barrel when they might have made a profit, but at $40/barrel they probably can’t cover their costs. The Keystone XL will probably die for the same reason.

In many ways Bernie, like Elizabeth Warren, is actually conservative, but people don’t know that unless they were aware and alive before Reagan. A lot of the protections and benefits that were enjoyed by the little people were crushed after 1980.

Owls, Bryan. Owls.

‘Nuff said 🙂

I had to Google that one, Badtux, and given the date I could be kind and say it was the Oxycontin talking…

There’s also reports that NASA found evidence of flowing water elsewhere, but it is almost certainly a hoax. LOL.
