Distance: 237.5 kilometers.

This the longest stage on this year’s Tour as far as just distance is concerned, but there are several other stages that will definitely take a lot more time, yesterday’s stage with the climb at the end, for example.

The basic fact is that climbs fall into five types, with the four numbered types decreasing in difficulty as the numbers get larger, and then there is the Hors Catégorie, literally “without category”, which generally makes you look for an elevator or Sherpas.
