Random Stuff

I didn’t get the Internet back until 3PM CST yesterday, which was annoying, but I had some handyman stuff to keep me busy. The annoying part is that they charge me whether I have access or not.

Badtux points out that entering the US without all of the proper paperwork is not a crime. It is a violation of rules, and will remain that way unless some ignorant Congresscritters make it a crime which will cost the Federal government billions of dollars every year. If undocumented aliens are picked up, they aren’t charged with a crime, they have, at most, a hearing before an administrative judge, and are sent back to their country of origin. Badtux provides chapter and verse of the US Code.

The fact that it isn’t a crime is why local law enforcement is unhappy with helping the Feds. First off, local law enforcement is not authorized to enforce Federal regulations. State laws don’t allow you to hold people in jail for unlimited periods. You have to charge people or release them within a given time period. If they are charged with a violation of state law they are entitled to an attorney and a bail hearing. If they can make bail. you have to release them. The Feds want you to hold people until they get around to dropping by, but they aren’t paying the bills, and they aren’t facing a lawsuit if the individual actually has all of the paper work.

Working with the Feds is a Win/Lose – the Feds get the money and credit if it’s a good bust, but the locals get the blame and the bills if it’s a disaster. I had a budget when I was in law enforcement, and I had enough problems protecting it from interdepartmental raids, I sure as hell wasn’t interested in wasting anything on the Feds. If they wanted to pony up more cash, then we could have talked, but if they did, local politicians would have cut their share so they could cut taxes. That was the way things worked during Reagan – no reduction in requirements, just shifting funding responsibilities to another layer of government.

It’s not just state laws, it’s the Constitution as a whole that requires providing a lawyer and bail hearing and right to habeas corpus etc. for people accused of a crime and jailed pending trial. That’s the kind of thing that the immigration code deliberately tip-toes around by classifying deportation as an administrative action rather than a punishment for a crime.

The Feds have a program to reimburse local police departments for holding illegal aliens for them (illegal alien in the legal term of the law — an alien, authorized or unauthorized, who has committed a felony offense), but the limitations on it are so ridiculous that most police departments get only a trivial sum from it. Most aliens that the Feds put an immigration hold on don’t qualify for reimbursement. Yeah, just what I want, someone cluttering my jail at local taxpayer expense while the Feds get their act together. (Cue eye roll).

2 Bryan { 02.22.17 at 11:31 am }

In reality [I taught laws of arrest in my departments in-service training] it never gets to the level of the US Constitution because the state constitutions and laws prohibit what the Feds do. If a person isn’t free to leave they are arrested and you had better have a crime to go along with that arrest. No crime, the arrest is illegal and the LEO is in trouble. Undocumented immigrants have violated Federal regulations, but not committed a crime, so the Feds have to provide local LEOs cover to deal with them. Money is a big deal with local governments, but liability is next. CBP [it was INS in my day] has powers and immunity that aren’t available to state and local law enforcement.

We get into this jurisdictional thing after hurricanes when LEOs from the neighboring states come in to back up local LEOs. The usual fix is to have the sheriff deputize them so they can function in the affected state. Jurisdiction is more important than most people understand. If you have MVA in Florida, the ownership of the road or street determines who takes the report, i.e. troopers for state roads, deputies for county roads, or local police for city streets. In my area it may also be the Air Force Security Police for some roads.

Too many jurisdictions are having to hand out early releases because of jail over -crowding, and Feds want women and children held with no associated crime, not going to happen, and that is the real reason behind the support in many places for sanctuary cities. We don’t have the homeless shelters we need, and now cities are expected to find places for the agricultural and food service workers in their jurisdiction until the Feds figure out what to do with them. That’s BS. Show us the money, Donald! Let’s see the cash up front before we even start talking.

We had 20K SEA refugees dropped on Okaloosa County after the end of Vietnam, and the Feds damn sure didn’t cover all of the costs. So, let’s see the cash, no checks, before you make local governments responsible for any Federal functions.

Apparently, Trumper is hiring several thousand new ICE & Border agents. *shrug*

Ultra-conservative America Firsters are handing out Russian flags with Trump’s name on them at CPAC 2017. LMAO

Also, Priebus apparently told FBI to refute the Russia stories. They refused. (Isn’t that kinda illegal? Abuse of power or something?) *shrug*

In other, more important news… The World lost another rare great American.

Professor Emerita Mildred Dresselhaus @ M.I.T. whose research into the fundamental properties of carbon helped make it the superstar of modern materials science & the nanotech industry, died Monday in Cambridge, MA @ 86. She earned the nicknamed the Queen of Carbon for her work. She was the first woman to become a full professor at M.I.T. in 1968, and she worked very hard to ensure that she would not be the last! 😀 Known as Millie to her friends & colleagues, she helped many women become Professors @ M.I.T.

A very sad day. Rest in peace Millie. You have earned it.

I’m working a post about the flag thing. You do know that it is the flag of the Netherlands with the red stripe moved to the bottom. Russia didn’t an actual national flag when Peter the Great was having ships built in the Netherlands at the end of the 17th century, so he used what was available. The Tsars had their standard with their black double-headed eagle on a gold background, but he couldn’t be on all of the ships. It was really a civil merchants’ flag but morphed into the national flag.

Someone suggested that maybe a vendor got confused, but everyone knows it’s ‘red, white & blue’, not ‘white, blue & red’. There are too many US flags of that size available for a vender to have screwed up and ordered Russian flags. The Chinese know the difference.

The CPAC natives are restless and don’t like some of what they were being given. Russia was always going to be a hard sell and they certainly weren’t happy about “Milo”.

Priebus talking to the FBI, no matter why, is a serious violation of protocols in place and monitored since before Nixon. Tricky Dick used the CIA to pressure the FBI on Watergate, and that was part of the reason he had to resign.

SCROTUS has banned some media companies from White House briefings for reporting on that. This is not going to be pretty. If Preibus had suggested that the FBI stop investigating the Russian connection, that might have resulted in obstruction of justice charges.

She lived through the Depression, World War II, etc. but she got to see and helped to create some great things. They should name one of the Trappist planets after her.

5 Kryten42 { 02.24.17 at 9:56 pm }

😆 Apparently most of the Trump loving morons @ CPAC didn’t know they were Russian flags (even with no stars & W/B/R stripes. But they are absolute *American Patriots*!) Which isn’t a surprise, given most get all their facts from the bible & FOX & are inbred home-schooled morons.

One of the people handing out the flags wearing a “#RESIST TRUMP” T-shirt, Jason Carter, has some pic’s on his Twitter feed. 😀
One person asked: “So did the folks holding the flags not understand?”
Jason replied: “A very small amount.”

“They were like lambs being led to slaughter. They couldn’t wait to wave them around.”

More here if interested: https://twitter.com/jcharter95

WaPo has the story on the attempted FBI gag:

6 Bryan { 02.24.17 at 10:34 pm }

My Bad 🙁 I assumed they were fed up with the Putin love in, but they were just ignorant. I’ll have to add an update to my post tomorrow. It’s as bad as the guy who just gunned down a couple of Indian techies because he thought they were Muslims. If you’re going to hate at least know who you’re hating and have some semblance of a reason why.

My Dad did not climb into the plexiglas nose of a B-24 to bomb Nazis in World War II, so they could be holding meetings in DC in the lives of his children. I didn’t put in 3500 hours aboard recce aircraft watching the Soviets, so the SCROTUS could embrace them in their new form. Why do people continue to make the same mistakes that always lead to bad endings?

7 Kryten42 { 02.25.17 at 12:17 am }

NBC Has an article on the Russian flags story:

Liberal Activists’ Prank Had Some at CPAC Waving Russian ‘Trump’ Flags

I wanna see Ttrumpers head explode! 😆

I hear you. My Grandfather didn’t fight fascists in WW1 & WW2 for this. But he warned me it would happen again. And I knew he was right. Quite frankly, with a combination of willful ignorance, narcissism & a few other things, it’d really no surprise. As you know, I was one of the people cleaning up after the USA in Cambodia. So nothing immoral & stupid the USA does will ever surprise me. *shrug*

8 Kryten42 { 02.25.17 at 12:34 am }

Also Business Insider has an interview with the two Activists responsible:

Activists gave out Russian-style Trump flags at CPAC: ‘You can’t print TRUMP on an American flag … that would be disrespectful’

I’m sure the tongue was firmly in cheek when he made that statement! 😆

Also, it seems Jason’s Twitter account (comment #5) is now gone.

9 Badtux { 02.25.17 at 1:23 pm }

The CPAC Russian flag story reminds me of an important point: These people, the heart and core of the conservative movement, are *STUPID*. For the most part. The bright staffer who realized what was happening and ordering the confiscation of the flags being one of the few who aren’t. And the reason that’s important is because stupid don’t fascist so good.

In a way, that’s a hopeful sign about the future of the country…

10 Kryten42 { 02.25.17 at 3:01 pm }

Some of the younger CPAC attendees apparently knew they were Russian flags & decided to show they weren’t happy about Trumper & Russia. But how many, I don’t know. The majority it seems had no clue. Which begs several troubling questions.

Rogue POTUS Staff‏ tweeted that Trumper was angry and ranted revenge against MSM:
“I have so much power just in my voice. I keep saying the word and they’ll be bankrupt.”

Seriously, the guy needs some serious med’s! He really thinks he’s god!

They also tweeted:
“The media has also failed to report that from 2/8 to 2/15 this year, the debt increased by $53 billion.”

The Sydney Morning Herald put together a well thought out article trying to show perspective on the current *attacks* against Sweden.
The Swedish migrant crime story that Donald Trump didn’t tell

Perspective is everything. This is a snippet (you should read the whole article to get the full perspective of course):

Michael Booth, author of an affectionately critical book in 2015 The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia, is scathing about the claim of “no-go areas” in Sweden.

“Is there anywhere I wouldn’t let my wife walk alone at night in Sweden? There are maybe five places like that in Scandinavia, and one of them is because of wolves.

“How many are there in the UK, 1005? And the US? Infinite. That American perspective makes it seem so absurd.”

And Rachel Maddow goes on something of a rant about why it was wrong for Priebus to try to influence the FBI. Mainly because of a rule limiting contact between the WH & Justice Department to 4 people. Though, she does give a good historical account of the reasons for this. Anyway, I thought it worth a watch (it’s a streaming MSNBC vid for about 21 min’s).
Maddow: Is the Trump administration stupid or nefarious?

Personally, I’d say both.

11 Bryan { 02.25.17 at 3:01 pm }

The wingers who got their feelings hurt probably complained to Twitter and had it taken down for TOS violations, just like they do on Facebook. That’s why I avoid both. Both systems want too much information on users and fold too quickly when the delicate feelings of the right fringe are bruised.

“I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative.” – John Stuart Mill, 1866

The American Conservative Union invited Milo to speak with his sole credentials that he says and writes things that liberals don’t like. Then they have to uninvite him when it is pointed out that among those things is advocating sex with minors. Their sole philosophy is opposing whatever they are told liberals support. This is no way to live your life – waiting for someone else to make their decision on an issue and then opposing it without even looking at how you’ll be affected.

12 Kryten42 { 02.25.17 at 8:38 pm }

One of the reasons Harward turned down the offer to replace Flynn was because he wanted McFarland out (for her advocacy of “Israeli-style” racial profiling, stating that Putin deserved a Nobel Prize & other reasons). Trumper wouldn’t allow it, nor allow Harward to appoint his own staff. Apparently, Trumper likes McFarland because she’s a regular on Fox News! Well, that’s a great reason to appoint someone to a senior position! I’m surprised he hasn’t given jobs to all the Fox staff!

US Tourism has declined under Trump. Expect it to become far worse. Especially with visitors (especially from one of their biggest allies) being treated so badly:
Mem Fox, Australian author, gets apology after being wrongfully detained at LA airport

Oh, speaking of (what I hilariously refer to as) Fox news:

Seems Trumper wants more nukes. Given the state of the Nukes & systems controlling them are terrible, not really a good idea. Well, that and many other reasons.

US CyberSec is, as expected, a complete joke. One example (of many):

The White House is overloaded with ‘experts as seen on TV’ rather than people who have ‘boots on the ground’ experience and training. Real professionals don’t want to waste their time training newbies whose experience is having the right prejudices. I got into a hassle with some people who were upset that I didn’t hate the Russians. I had to waste a lot of effort trying to explain in an unclassified way why hatred would reduce my effectiveness. My job was to figure out what the Soviets would do in a given situation. It was irrelevant what the best or most logical reaction would be, because that wasn’t how the Soviet military was structured. There were rules and the rules were followed or there was Siberia.

Oh, yes, we are going to take a serious hit down here because of crap like what happened to Ms Fox. They aren’t just being assholes with people who might be a threat but with 70-year-old children’s book authors. When you add to that the crazies who think they have been empowered to shoot people who they think are either Arabs or undocumented immigrants, tourists are going to avoid the US is the limit on NSA because it is military. This problem belongs to the Port Authority which is a joint entity of the states of New York & New Jersey in supposed cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security…

The mayor of Paris is trolling SCROTUS over his comments about the city at CPAC. The mayor of Malmo, Sweden is getting media time to ask what Trump is talking about. People are using ‘delusional’ a lot.

Trump doesn’t get it. and his advisors don’t know enough about anything to explain why restarting the nuclear arms race is a really stupid and dangerous idea. Both the US and Russia have sufficient warheads to destroy the planet many times over.

NSA isn’t allowed to do security audits in the US. That would be competing with private enterprise and that isn’t allowed. Diplomatic and military facilities only in the US.

It’s suspicious that Mem Fox was detained and harassed at LAX where she was attending a signing for her latest book “I’m Australian Too” teaching children about welcoming refugees and immigrants.

I’ve commented often about my dealings with Russians (Soviets). You have to give to get. Way it’s always been, always will be. And we had a lot of fun too. I got more than most because I didn’t treat them as fools, or bad, or any of the other BS stereotypes. I was asked in the 90’s to help out again. I declined. I was done… Not with the Russians, with the fools in Canberra.

Following in Nixon’s footsteps (the last Prez to chicken out on this dinner), Trumper the Coward tweeted: “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!”

And now a prominent French-Jewish scholar who specializes in the Holocaust was apparently detained for 12 hours in Houston, and was not deported only because the university where he was scheduled to speak contacted one of the lawyers who got the Muslim ban stayed and DHS decided maybe, just maybe, they ought to not piss off people with lawyers like that on retainer, especially over someone who is a Jew and specializes in the Holocaust.

Oh, his crime? He was born in Egypt, and expelled from Egypt in 1956 as an unwanted Jew.

I did Nazi this coming….

19 Bryan { 02.26.17 at 3:38 pm }

Yes, in addition to Australian Mem Fox, Frenchman Henry Rousso, there was the harassment of American Muhammad Ali Jr. and his mother in a Fort Lauderdale for ‘flying while Muslim’. These actions are absolutely unAmerican.

Rousso’s family left Egypt when he was 2 years old during the build up to the 1956 Suez Crisis, and the Israeli invasion of Egypt.

These actions are the brown-shirt crap of the 1930s.

Yes, the Tories have gone around the bend. They got her out of the country on a Sunday so she couldn’t talk to a lawyer to delay a total waste of taxpayer money by deporting her to Singapore. They are catering to the paranoia of the ignorant, and will pay a price.

Spicer has lost the thread as he isn’t a very successful propagandist. He should polish his fast-food skills or learn to roll with the punches. Of course if Trump keeps annoying the media, he may be redundant as no one will attend his briefings.

Admiral McRaven, like most military people, takes the Constitution very seriously.

That WHCA dinner is almost always a ‘roast’ of the President, and Trump can’t deal with criticism of any kind – he’s a wuss.

Centrelink recipient’s data released by department to counter public criticism

The part that people are missing however is that Farfax Media was completely complicit! They should never have published the personal details no matter what agency they came from! At the very least, the name & other identifiers should have been withheld! I assume it was done so that when this reached a courtroom (and it will) it would be dismissed due to public release that would potentially compromise a *fair* trial.

The White House is dismissing a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) intelligence report rebuffing President Trump’s claims that citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries pose an increased terror threat, the Wall Street Journal reported late Friday.

“The president asked for an intelligence assessment,” a senior administration official told the Journal. “This is not the intelligence assessment the president asked for.”

Trump administration officials claim that the report failed to include available evidence that supports the president’s Jan. 27 order barring citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia from entering the U.S.

That executive order was blocked by a federal appeals court earlier this month, and Trump has said he is crafting a new order that can withstand legal muster.
Acting DHS Press Secretary Gillian Christensen also challenged the agency’s report, calling it an “incomplete product.” But she said the administration’s reason for taking issue with it was not political.

“Any suggestion by opponents of the president’s policies that senior [DHS] intelligence officials would politicize this process or a report’s final conclusions is absurd and not factually accurate,” Christensen told the Journal.

Apparently, the *Acting* DHS Press Secretary knows far more about intelligence work than the Agency! LMAO

26 Bryan { 02.27.17 at 8:28 pm }

In the US you would be out the door and possibly on your way to court if you released that kind of information without a court order. Almost everyone in the US complains about the IRS, but the IRS never responds. It is a waste of time to respond to individual claims other than the standard “No comment.”

It is becoming obvious that the majority of the people working at the White House think their bosses are all asses. They are probably the relatives of Trump’s associates, and don’t really need the job. Screwing with people is what they do. At least while they are working at the White House they aren’t out killing homeless people like too many of their ‘friends’.

The DHS analysts don’t think the information that the White House wants included is credible. The only ‘problem’ with the report is that it corresponds with reality, not SCROTUS’s delusions.

The media should have stopped talking to her after her ‘alternate facts’ comment. Being disbarred isn’t as good as being behind bars, but you take what you can get. 😈

Henry Rousso has written an article in HuffPo about his humiliating experience, which would have been much worse if he hadn’t known someone who was in a position to stop it. It’s absolutely disgusting… As bad as North Korea. Actually, no! It’s far worse! It’s expected from the NK dictatorship!

Is The United States Still The United States?

28 Bryan { 02.28.17 at 4:08 pm }

The media should stop broadcasting the administration’s photo ops live and provide summaries later. For instance, there is a speech scheduled for a joint session of Congress tonight. The media should provide a transcript of the speech and the response tomorrow, and broadcast the final Mardi Gras parades tonight. You’ll get better viewer numbers from from pictures of people on floats throwing beads to drunks, than a staged political circus.

Reading Rousso’s article I think I see a connection to Mem Fox’e detention – both were coming to the US to do what might be considered, if you were weak minded, a ‘job’. The border agents apparently think they are stealing American jobs. Maybe, instead of foreigners coming to the US to sign books or give lectures, the people responsible should call “Fraudulent Foreigners”, the enterprise that Faux News uses to find guests to disparage foreign countries, as replacements.

Actually the Serbs used cell towers and PC software to locate and shoot down an F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, so it is silly to think that whatever we do to hide, somebody else won’t figure out how to find. It’s a jet aircraft that is loud and hot, so there are more ways than radar technology available to find them. I assume we have Russian and Chinese trawlers in the Gulf trying to locate them. If they have a few ‘tourists’ living on land, they can hear the damn things take off and alert the techs off shore.

The FA-18 is really a better fit for you and the Canadians. Your government should wait until Trump really insults you and then you can cancel the contract.

Trump is claiming the attacks on Jewish cemeteries and bomb threats against Jewish facilities in the US are probably false flag ops by either liberals or Jews. Anything to deflect blame from his followers, like the bigot in Kansas who thought he was shooting Iranians instead of Indians, as if that would make thing better.

Update: we were posting at the same time. I would say 50% just to freak out the bosses, whether it was true or not. It is a bit of an understatement to say that ASD or NSA are large energy users. In a temperate climate they don’t need any heating beyond what comes off their equipment. Rochester institute of Technology in Rochester, New York uses the waste heat from their computer center to replace the furnace in an entire building. Considering the probable size of the ASD facility and the need to maintain ‘comfort zone’ temperatures, they definitely would need backup power during a heatwave, which argues for local solar power to provide that need.

Geez! Everything comes in threes m8! 😀

I got a letter from my mobile phone company (ACN) that they are cancelling all mobile services @ end of March. They sent me a sim for *a very special deal* with Vodaphone for a 24mth plan w/1 GB data/30 days prepaid that works out at $28/mth! What a bloody joke!

I also got a letter from the NBN Co. that NBN is available at my address w/ an ID code that I can give to my ISP to make things easy.

Got an email from my ISP that my 12 mth contract is about to expire. Also, my landline phone plan is with a different company.

Oh well. The good news is that NBN is available, the downside is that if it’s copper, it may only be slightly better than what I have, depending how far away from the fiber node I am. Pretty sure we are on copper from node to premises because there hasn’t been any work in this street. Still, maybe I’ll get lucky. Good news is I can cancel my landline phone @ save $30/mth on line rental (as it’s not needed for NBN).

The BIG problem is that I will have no idea of my actual line speed until the NBN is connected! 🙁 So, I don’t know which tier to go for (if speed is slow, the higher/faster/more expensive tiers will be a waste of money!) Tier 1: 12 Mbps, T 2/3: 25 Mbps, T4: 50 Mbps, T5: 100 Mbps. The gotcha is that they know NBN sux & only guarantee 50% of rated speed @ T1-3, & 25% T4-5! What a f*kin joke!

Best thing is to hope someone nearby has NBN with the company so they can give me an idea. Because I can’t just change a 12 mth contract. Have to cancel & payout the remainder. 🙁

Damned crooks!

Probably go for T3 (T3 has faster up speed than T2) & hope for best. 🙁

My recent problems were all related to line resistance in the coax coming into the house from the pole. The tech replaced all of the connectors after taking a reading from the mainline at the house. I went from average download speeds of 7.8Mbps back to the above 15Mbps that I was paying for [with a $75 service charge]. There is one more thing I will do if things drop off – run a new line from the house connection to the modem with no intermediate connectors. There are too many connectors in the current line. Copper corrodes, whether it’s twisted pair or coax. That’s one of the big selling points on fiber – reduced maintenance after installation.

The no landline requirement is good, but paying for service they already know won’t be delivered really sucks, as do two year plans when you don’t know if the company is worth anything.

Put your options on a dart board and trust your luck is probably the best you can hope for if you can’t locate a current NBN customer.

Hi m8. 😀 yeah! Well, I sent emails to the companies. Also looking at a few other ISP’s I know are good. See who can do the best all-in-one deal for me. 🙂 Also, I need a static IP, so that limit’s things a bit. Only a few include one free. Most others charge from $2.50-$10/mth extra (Tesltra charge $10. Nobody else does! What a surprise!)

I hope you get a win one day for your internet. I know it’s as likely as me getting FTTP (Fiber To The Premises)! Still, I was surprised we got FTTN! Must have been planned before Turdbull decided to go all copper last year. Phew!

One of the problems is major congestion because they doubled the distance between fiber nodes to cut costs! Typical.

This is the one I’m most interested in (they have my $30 landline rental). From SpinTel:

Tier 4 (50/20 Mbps) @ $20 + 1 TB/mth @$54.95, 12 Mth contract (no setup fee) + free Static IP + mobile (w/ 2GB/mth data) @ $9.95 (special bundle deal) = $84.90/Mth. I’m paying $140/mth all up now, including ADSL @ 700-840 kbps!

I used SpinTel a few years ago. They were good. They’ve won 18 awards for best prices & service since they started in 2007. 🙂

I’m busy on Twitter! Elizabeth Warren & others are tweeting up a storm over Sessions Perjuring himself to Congress! I got 6 new followers today for my comments. 😉 I’m such a star! LMAO

Most popular quote was: “Let’s hope Sessions is the tip of the iceberg! And iceberg meets Global Warming!”

People are strange. 😉

I’m getting 15/2Mbps + 1TB/month for $63, no Static IP but they offer VOIP phone service for $10/month which is worthless for service calls when the ‘Net is down.

Warren and Sanders are not going to rollover for SCROTUS and his minions. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions lied in writing to Senator Patrick Leahy and in oral testimony to Senator Al Franken. He was under oath and should be impeached if he doesn’t resign.

40 Kryten42 { 03.02.17 at 6:06 pm }

That’s not a bad deal, especially with taking the crappy exchange rate into consideration! 😀 SpinTel has a VoIP option for $10/mth. But I don’t need it. Also, they supply a basic VoIP/VDSL router as part of the 12 mth deal for free. But I have my ASUS DSL-AC68U (no VoIP but everything else I want). 🙂

Pelosi is into the AG fray now. 😀

Another Senator, Kamala Harris, has been pretty vocal & standing up in the House against the Trump admin. 🙂

In other news:
I was finally able to devote some time to my blog the which has been on hold for awhile.

1. Got my ‘kryten42.com’ domain transferred to WebHostFace & Nameservers/FTP/Mail config’d.
2. Learned the new cPanel (been a few years since I used it! I like the new one! :D)
3. Set up all security, mail, sub-domains & records.
4. Installed WPMU (of course changed ALL defaults!)
The new Softaculous makes this a breeze! Almost too easy. LOL
5. Set up full daily rotating site backups (7, a week’s worth) before I start messing around! 😉 😀
6. Set up full weekly & monthly backups w/ R1soft local & offsite (incl. separate MySQL backups).
7. Installed basic theme & plugins (mostly security related).
8. Some other tedious stuff! LOL

Still waiting for my SSL certificate! So no HTTPS for now.

Feeling pretty good about it all so far. 🙂 It’s nice to be moving ahead finally!
I’ll let you know when it’s ready for visitors. 🙂

That was US$63 which is over AU$83, pretty much the same monthly you are going to have and you get faster speeds, a static IP , and cell service. US consumers get screwed like all of the other banana republics as corporations buy corrupt politicians.

So far this administration reminds of Fawlty Towers, with fewer laughs and less competence.

43 Badtux { 03.02.17 at 11:11 pm }

Kamala’s my Senator. And yes, she rocks! She was the only state attorney general who didn’t go for the give-away settlement negotiated by the Obama Justice Department with the big banks and instead negotiated a bigger settlement for California. I’m quite happy that she’s my Senator now. She’s not running for president in four years though, she’s nowhere near where she needs to be for that and she knows it. Elizabeth Warren, on the other hand… ooh, that would make me smile.

“Fawlty Towers, with fewer laughs and less competence.” Ouch!

44 Kryten42 { 03.03.17 at 12:04 am }

In theory I may get faster speeds! Won’t know until I get it. And from reports, it will probably vary quite a bit day-to-day. And many report serious dropouts & loss of connectivity when the Nodes become seriously congested (due to both distance between nodes & over-provisioning!) 🙁 Also, the NBN Co. charge outrageous prices for the back-haul bandwidth! Something like $17k/Mth for 1 Gb! So many ISP’s are just buying the minimum they can get away with! Which is why the performance guarantee is a joke! If I get the minimum of 25%, you’ll be better off than I will. *shrug*

45 Kryten42 { 03.03.17 at 4:29 am }

Didn’t see your comment badtux. 😀 Yes, I’d like to see Warren run! 😀

I’d have thought more… Hogan’s Heroes maybe? With trump as Klink. 😉 But yes, Fawlty Towers is apropos! Oh! McHales Navy, Trump is Cap. Binghamton (Old Leadbottom)! LOL

I’m looking for someone to run who actually thinks that FDR knew what he was doing and showed the rest of the path towards prosperity. I’m tired of so-called liberal/progressive Democrats who refuse to notice that Wall Street and big banks are problem, not the solution. If they want to gamble, let them crash & burn and bail out the victims, not the perpetrators.

I would love Senator Warren to run just to watch Jamie Dimon lose control of his bladder. She’s a real teacher and knows how to deal with ‘children’.

Well, SCROTUS claims to be a hotelier like Basil… 👿

The Swedes have reason to believe that the Russians have it in for them – their Air Force enjoys annoying first Soviet and then Russian aircraft in the Baltic. Conflict between the Viking/Nordic nations and the Rus/Russians has been going on for about 1400 years, so there’s no reason to expect a change. The Vikings had a trade route on the rivers between the eastern Baltic and the Black Sea through the heart of Kievian Russia to Constantinople, and are the reason ‘Slav’ became ‘slave’.

Just for you, Kryten

Thanks! LOL I read Icanhascheeseburger occasionally. 🙂 Been too busy of late.

Our ABC has a good roundup of the latest Trumper news in one thread here:

Trump flashes anger over Sessions recusal, Russia stories in tense Oval Office meeting and more…

And some of the lastest *staff* Tweets:

Rogue POTUS Staff‏:
POTUS plays so much more golf than the media knows. The idea this is a “working weekend” is a joke. It’s a naps/golf/naps weekend.
This cannot be understated: The President of the United States is a Russian espionage agent.
By definition, anyone secretly working against the country in favor, or the under control, of a foreign government, is a espionage agent.
As I said before, Pres is out to make Obama the scapegoat – beating the birther drums again. This is the defense he’s chosen.

Rogue WH Snr Advisor‏:
Pres keeps yelling about how “…Obama met with Putin! Where was the investigation there?!”
Wiretap tweetstorm is attempt to get ahead of soon-to-break real story & makes reality probable cause seem “fake” – at least thats the idea.
SIGINT collection authorized per FISA is hardly illegal wiretapping. If POTUS has evidence of different, he needs to show it – or shut up.
People forget birtherism is how Pres started political career. He knows it worked once for him & a thinks derivative could work again.

And the best for last:
EXCLUSIVE: FBI ‘Granted FISA Warrant’ Covering Trump Camp’s Ties To Russia

John McCain passes dossier alleging secret Trump-Russia contacts to FBI

Yeah, I think Bannon/Trumper made a HUGE mistake pissing off McCain! 😆 “Ahh McCain, You’ve done it again!”

The wheel is definitely coming off! I’d even say, there is an iceberg directly ahead! 😆

Here Bryan, one for you. 😉

Former NSA Analyst Pulls No Punches About Trump Criminal Collusion With Russia

Former NSA analyst John Schindler mocked President Trump and said it wasn’t smart to attack spies and the press “when you colluded with the Kremlin to get elected.”

51 Bryan { 03.04.17 at 7:22 pm }

You don’t need a hall pass or even correct change to watch the Russian embassy – it’s a pre-approved target. So, the fact that a warrant was applied for and granted means there was ‘probable cause’ to present to a judge that something was going on.

The problem isn’t meeting with the Russians, the problem begins when you lie about meeting with the Russians, and a pattern develops that indicates collusion. When Flynn talked to the Russian ambassador about sanctions and the Russians changed their normal response to sanctions, lots of bells and whistles went off.

Given how hard FBI Director Comey worked to keep Clinton’s e-mail server in the news during the campaign there was definitely a ‘witch hunt’ going on, but it had nothing to do with Drumpf & his minions. With Sessions the questions about meetings with the Russians were both written and oral. If it was all in a day’s work for a Senator, why lie about it? It was a stupid lie – one of the meetings was in Sessions’ Senate office which is documented a dozen ways because of security

There are a half dozen or so senior members of the SCOTUS’s team who have ties to Russia and Drumpf was saying nice things about Vlad during the campaign, so a lot of wires were tripped. The problem is that the current occupants of the White House aren’t smart enough to create plausible deniability,. They think their denying of reality should be assumed to be plausible based on the alternate facts doctrine.
