Vernal Equinox

It’s that time of year. Spring arrived at 5:29 CDT this morning, so this is the first full day. You can watch it come at Archæoastronomy.

The air is already filled with pollen and the live oaks are dropping last year’s leaves. The azaleas have already peaked and the pear trees aren’t yet snowy with blooms.

I would note that locally we have had 12 hours or more of daylight since St. Patrick’s Day, and usually do.

“12 hours or more of daylight ” Untaxed? I’m sure Dolt45 will shorten the nighttime seconds and lengthen the daytime seconds to compensate the Kleptocracy.

Don’t give those clowns ideas 😉

TOO MUCH BLOODY POLLEN! I don’t have air conditioning and we had a bit of a warm front recently, so I have drifts of pollen *everywhere*! All the antihistamines in the world aren’t working. I have Sudafed, but I can’t sleep on Sudafed, plus it makes me sweat like a pig because it’s a stimulant. The other decongestant stuff (the “PE” stuff) doesn’t have any effect at all on me. SIGH.

I know precisely what you mean, I have bulk sizes of Zyrtec and PE, but they have minimal effect. There is yellow ‘dust’ on everything.

I’m now taking Zyrtec in the morning and Claritin in the evening, because they last about 12 hours for me now, and the real-deal Sudafed (the kind you gotta sign your life away to get a ten day supply at the pharmacy) only as needed. This sucks :(. I need to buy a house so I can do air conditioning so that HEPA filters are useful…

I inherited my Mom’s big HEPA air cleaner and if I can stay inside it will scrub the air. Unfortunately I can’t stay inside all the time. Yeah, the only drug you have to sign a ledger to get. They have check a state site before they can sell it. If the ‘Net is down they can’t sell it. It’s easier to buy an assault rifle than Sudafed.

my neighborhood drug store periodically has armed holdups – must be some poor allergy sufferer waving around their ar15 just trying to get enough Sudafed to make it through pollen season.

The season started early and doesn’t ever seem to end…
