Bloomsday

Bloomsday

According to the James Joyce Center

Bloomsday is a celebration that takes place both in Dublin and around the world. It celebrates Thursday 16 June 1904, which is the day depicted in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses. The day is named after Leopold Bloom, the central character in Ulysses. The novel follows the life and thoughts of Leopold Bloom and a host of other characters – real and fictional – from 8am on 16 June 1904 through to the early hours of the following morning.

I thought this might be (somewhat) appropriate here… 😉 😀 And needed some nice fun news!

So, an 89 YO Engineer in California has taken an old idea floated in the 1820-30’s and modernized it to make it work! It’s brilliant! 😀 😀

Well, so much for good news. I knew that wouldn’t last long.

Seattle police fatally shoot black Seattle mother; family demands answers

Apparently, pregnant mother of 3, Charleena Lyles, called the police to report a burglary. They shot her dead in front of her children. Because, they say, she had a knife. Also a video of the incident posted online shows Police promised her they would not shoot her before she let them into her house. I’m certain if she was white, she’d still be alive.

The USA is certifiably insane! No excuse for this whatsoever! Absolutely despicable, cowardly & inhuman!

That is an interesting concept. have to see how it scales.

They are not hiring or training officers properly any more. The people they are hiring are afraid to do their job,

There will be problems to overcome, security being a big one. Wouldn’t be difficult to sabotage. But then, neither are standard rail systems. *shrug* What a pathetic world.

It didn’t take some long to figure Trump out, nice to see.

We’ll see where that goes.

I’ve been helping test this VPN Service for awhile. I’ve use their TOR mail service for some time. It’s been very good! The new VPN is available for free.

ProtonVPN is now available to the general public

Oh! I should say about ProtonVPN that, as with most VPN services, only the basic service is free. there are reasonably priced versions depending on needs. 🙂

The only thing I & others weren’t happy with was the use of AES-256. But because of performance criteria & availability of a range of hardware support for AES-256, there really wan’t much choice. Hopefully, that will change.

Well, Proton took off – there is a waiting list as of yesterday. I’ll check back. I use the Opera VPN for some of my messing around, basically to thumb my nose at my ISP and for financial things. I’ll give them a try after the rush is over.

LOL Yeah, I checked last night & there was no chance. There were 10,000 testers for a year, and we all used ProtonMail, I have a paid Biz acc’t (very cheap compared to others. lot of good management tools for mail lists etc.) We all got a Visionary acc’t free for a year. Other testers w/ the free email acc’t got the Pro for a year. So was worth the trouble. 😀

It’s probably the most secure VPN I’ve seen & used (and I’ve used most of the serious ones.) I’ve mentioned CyberGhost with i helped Crowdfund. I still have an acc’t. That’s my #2 now. 😀

ProtonVPN, which it uses AES-256 for the data stream, uses 2048-bit RSA for the key exchange & the key is changed every session. It also only used the (so far) proven secure OpenVPN & IKEv2 protocols. Many use the insecure PPTP & L2TP protocols. They also use TOR as an added security layer & have their own TOR routers & servers.

The part I loves is that the core servers & infrastructure are located in an disused fallout shelter built 1 km under a mountain! 😆

Anyway, they are a great bunch & take privacy & security very seriously. 🙂

At this point I don’t worry as much as I did earlier because all of the lawyers are going to be tied up with various Trump disasters and investigations, so there is no one available to annoy me. Given the massive response, they obviously have something people want.
