Leadership

Lieutenant General Jay Silveria, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy shows what leadership is all about.

Trump’s Tweetstorm attacking San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, is what being a thin-skinned schmuck is all about.

When asked about the Tweetstorm, Lieutenant General Russel Honore, retired, the eventual commander of the Katrina response shows how to deal with schmucks: “I have no reaction,” he said tersely. “The mayor is living on a cot. I hope the president has a good day at golf.”

I saw that Silveria video and just sat back and nodded, “yep, he left no questions about what he expects.” Unlike his commander-in-chief, who says of those same racist deplorables, “and some of them are nice people, I presume.”

What is it with Republicans attacking the victims of hurricanes? They did the same thing to the mayor of New Orleans after Katrina as well as to the governor of Louisiana, Governor Blanco (who was the person *really* responsible for evacuating New Orleans — after FEMA failed to activate the busses they’d reserved, Governor Blanco got on the phone and rounded up school busses and drivers from around the country to do the majority of the evacuation). Now, Ray-Ray really *was* a bad mayor, but crap, when someone is sitting in a flooded out city you don’t whine about how he’s not bailing water fast enough, you send some help!

General Honore was at least honorable enough to allow Governor Blanco’s buses get in and do the majority of the evacuation, even if he was self-serving enough to take credit for the evacuation.

Badtux: “What is it with Republicans attacking the victims of hurricanes?”

Real Estate and Race. But, you knew that.

Google “new orleans real estate after Katrina”.

How long do we have to put up with this odious idiot?

FEMA is still using the same stupid process they have used since 2004 and it sucks.

Yes, Badtux, this is the best speech I’ve heard from an Air Force officer for a very long time, and gives me hope that they may finally be cleaning up their act.

I don’t ever intend to forgive Bush and his team for turning back the Florida airboats who went to Louisiana on their own dime to help. Nor will I let Rumsfeld off for not using the military in a timely fashion. People at the local bases turned around aircraft and got ready to help as soon as they returned from their evacuation, but they waited days before they were ‘allowed’ to help.

Yeah, Shirt, they want to clear all of those pesky peasants off of the prime tropical real estate to build resorts.

Shirt: Seven years. Presuming that the Rethugs steal the next election via voter rolls scrubbing and voting machine hacking, which I totally expect.

“Yeah, Shirt, they want to clear all of those pesky peasants off of the prime tropical real estate to build resorts.”

Why was that the first thing that popped into my mind the minute Trump opened his mouth to speak on the crisis?

How cynical of me.

I think my Outrage Quotient hasn’t been this high since Katrina.

I don’t know that Trump can last 4 years either physically or mentally, Badtux. Melanie isn’t nearly as good as Nancy Reagan was in shielding her husband from himself. If they eliminate the estate tax, I wouldn’t trust his kids given the values he taught them.

If they tank Puerto Rico, Wall Street loses $70 billion, Anya, so Trump’s Goldman Sachs advisors are going to be conflicted about which path to take. No one on the island is going to want to work with Trump as he already screwed up an attempted golf resort.

Bryan, Trump is basically bankrupt. His buildings are mortgaged beyond their worth. The only hope his kids have for a real inheritance is to use their dad to grift, and to grift as long as possible. They’re not going to “off” their dad while he’s still President, because that removes a grifting possibility.

I think the madness of Donald Trump is overstated. He says bizarre things, but he’s *always* said bizarre things. That’s just who he is.

Realistically, I think you’re right, and that is the reason behind all of the various products he has hustled. His tax returns would probably show he’s broke and his “brand” requires him to be a billionaire. Without money he’s just another obnoxious fat guy with small hands.

He’s is primarily ignorant, and makes no attempt to change that situation. He’s a schmuck with a total lack of empathy.

9 Kryten42 { 10.06.17 at 5:53 pm }

Yes. He’s just tiny hands & a big mouth on leg’s. No brain required, or in evidence.

He is a threat to world peace and the peace of mind of those who have to endure his “Donnie Soak” act. If there weren’t major financial benefits for hanging around for a year, I doubt many people would still be there. Mattis will probably hang on to protect the military, but most of the qualified cabinet secretaries will probably bail out at the end of a year.
