Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed

A huge new leak of financial documents has revealed how the powerful and ultra-wealthy, including the Queen’s private estate, secretly invest vast amounts of cash in offshore tax havens.

Donald Trump’s commerce secretary is shown to have a stake in a firm dealing with Russians sanctioned by the US.

The leak, dubbed the Paradise Papers, contains 13.4m documents, mostly from one leading firm in offshore finance.

BBC Panorama is part of nearly 100 media groups investigating the papers.

As with last year’s Panama Papers leak, the documents were obtained by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, which called in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) to oversee the investigation. The Guardian is among the nearly 100 media partners involved in investigating the documents.

At the bottom of the article they have a nice little graphic showing the connections between Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and a number of Russians including Putin’s son-in-law.

This is a treasure trove for Mueller! Will take some time to go through the huge dump & check those relevant. He knows he only has one shot at doing it right.

Lot of people on Twitter are screaming for Kushner’s head. But obviously they have no idea how the system works. HuffPo have an article:

Jared Kushner Keeps Failing To Disclose Connections With Russians

Interesting times I guess. 😉 😀

Speaking of corruption… Seems the “Fat Leonard” scandal has found 60 possibly (or probably) corrupt Admirals & hundreds of officers so far!

‘Fat Leonard’ probe expands to ensnare more than 60 admirals

As we discussed a while back. but it’s bigger than I expected. In hindsight, I should be even remotely surprised. I’ve long known how things “work”. *shrug*

Some days, I entertain a wistful thought that I was unscrupulous & unethical. I’d easily be a billionaire!

Funny how all those admirals contacted by the WaPo kept saying “I dunno who invited Fat Leonard to that event, I don’t even know him, I was in a receiving line and had dozens of photos of me taken with dozens of people during that time!”

Just from the general flow of reports I don’t think Kushner is particularly bright and may end up in bankruptcy in the near future as a result of bad decisions he has made. Like Trump, I think he has run out of local financing and is over-stretched.

Fat Leonard just got carried away. If he had cut back on the parties and toned down the level of corruption, nothing would have been said. Claiming not to know him is fairly absurd given the reach of his company, and the length of the contract. It would be like an Air Force general not knowing the CEO of Boeing or Lockheed/Martin. These are the people who will offer you jobs after you retire from the military.

I seriously don’t think anyone in the entire family is very bright! With the possible exception of Ivana Marie Zelníčková. Probably why she divorced 45. Too bad Ivanka inherited most genes from her dad. *shrug*

So, another Republican has quit. I understand why many of the reasonably sane members are quitting, but not entirely sure it’s a good idea… *shrug*

Just In: Mike Pence Finally Implicated in Comey’s Firing

And just when we all thought the incredibly moronic bobble heads couldn’t get any dumber:

The day following the deadliest church shooting in modern U.S. history, and the worst mass shooting in Texas history, Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt said there is “no other place” she would rather be during a violent attack than inside a place of worship.

In response to the 26 church service attendees who lost their lives yesterday, Earhardt said:

“We’ve been reporting this shouldn’t happen in a church. But I was downstairs talking with some people that work here that we all talk about our faith and we share the same beliefs. We were saying there’s no other place we would want to go other than church. Because I’m there asking for forgiveness. I feel very close to Christ when I’m there.

So, I’m trying to look at some positives here and know that those people are with the Lord now and experiencing eternity and no more suffering, no more sadness anymore.”

Earhardt spoke while interviewing Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

In response, Abbott stressed the “necessity for us to come together under one God to purge evil and to rely upon the love that God provides.” According to the most recent reports, approximately half of the 26 people killed in Sunday’s shooting were children.

Wow!! Divorced from reality & humanity much??!😲😲👎🏾

We had two governor’s races today, for the states of Virginia and New Jersey. Democrats won both which is being taken as an indication that Trump is not helping the Republicans. A lot of people have figured out that you would need to support Trump in the primary election, but doing that would destroy your possibility in the general election. Trump has the support of a majority of Republican Party voters, but you can’t win a general election without a bigger group of voters than that.

Republicans need to read the Epistle of James and start to absord the reality that faith alone isn’t enough, you have to have works. Thoughts & prayers with moments of silence are not going to stop the insanity. We need to enforce the laws we have and give law enforcement the tools they need to do it. Currently the NRA has backed legislation that hampers the ability to enforce current laws.

Yeah! I read about the win’s. I figured you’d be up on it for sure. 😀 Someone on Twitter posted this (to get right up the noses of RWNJ’s!)

“Voters today chose
-2 new Democratic governors
-2 black lieutenant governors
-2 transgender officials
-A Black Lives Matter lawyer as DA in Philly
-A Sikh mayor in Hoboken
-A socialist in Virginia
-To oust GOP mayor in Atlantic City
-And to expand Medicaid in Maine”

Love it! He used 45’s T tag in the message too! To make sure it was on his feed. Love the guy’s style, whoever he is!

I gave up on most self-confessed christians even reading the bible (and don’t even mention understanding it!) Long ago! Christian, Christianity, Jesus, God are just words the RWNJ’s use with not the faintest idea what they represent.

Here’s an interesting development:

Exclusive: Russia Activated Twitter Sleeper Cells for 2016 Election Day Blitz

So basically… Russia went to war with the USA. And the USA lost. Well, lost the 1st big battle anyway. 😉 😀

OT: For some reason the system thought you wanted to delete the first of the two posts, so I ‘undeleted’ it.

The problem is that the Trumpists voted but the other Republicans stayed home. Trumpists can win Republican primaries, but they can’t win general elections. Espousing Trump’s bigotry is required to win the primary, but the other two-thirds of voters find the policies abhorrent.

The Russians just parroted Fox News and the wackos believed it. As long as you play to peoples’ prejudices, they accept whatever you say. Trump lies, but the lies reinforce the prejudices of his audience, so he is believed.
