The Manhattan DA is issuing subpoenas to people in an investigation of possible New York crimes committed in relation to the payments made through the Trump Organization to Stormy Daniels and/or Karen McDougal in 2016.
Two people not worried about ‘catching’ anything are David Pecker, CEO of AMI, and Allen Weisselberg, CFO of the Trump Organization and Treasurer of the Trump Foundation – they have received immunity from Federal crimes by the Southern District of New York. Pecker is a long-time friend of Trump, and Weisselberg started with the Trump Organization under Donald Trump’s father, Fred.

Uhm, Kryten, if someone started swinging a gun to point at me I’d do my best to shoot them before they could shoot me too. It’s a case of “Gun!” and shoot. The fact that it turned out to be a relatively harmless pellet gun wasn’t known at the time the cops pulled their triggers.
All in all, it appears to be a case of suicide by cop. Which is the problem with calling heavily armed and violent men (a.k.a. police officers) to check on the welfare of a mentally ill person — you’re setting up a situation that’s not good for the welfare of said mentally ill person, most of whom are dangerous to themselves, not to others. You’re setting up a suicide by cop scenario.
The landlord probably should have called the fire department, not the police department… at least around here, the FD are trained paramedics, including trained in how to deal with mentally ill people. But so it goes.
Cops, like teachers, are expected to fill jobs that they didn’t sign up for, and were never trained to do. Fire fighters are now tasked as medical first responders, but they are receiving training.
I owned a Crosman pellet pistol, .17 caliber powered by CO2. It looked like my Smith & Wesson Model 19. At close range it could penetrate and was certainly not “harmless”.
Badtux is correct – training would make this a “shoot” situation. Suicide by cop happened less frequently by in the 1970s and 80s, but it happened.
Hmmmm…. OK. I was checking the reports today & I suspect you are correct. But I’m still not giving them a pass or think t was done properly.
OT: Just got home from Hospital. Went in Tuesday week ago with severe abdominal pain. Had pain on & off since I got the Surgical Hernia 4 yrs ago, but this was the worst yet. Went to GP & he called an ambulance. ER put me on morpheme, ordered a CT & other scans, called a surgical team for assessment when the scan’s/tests were done. They decided I needed surgery but were very concerned as my abdomen was quite distended and very hard, like a rock! But it began receding over night and they decided to wait & observe, went into the Surgical ward. Operated on Sat. My bowel, intestines and appendix were a twisted mess and they removed my appendix and part of the bowel that looked to be becoming septic. Was a 3 hr op. Went well and I was in recovery to come off the anesthetic. Was the worst I can remember in years! 3 hrs is a long time. I literally had no idea where I was and hallucinated for some minutes, but they began to reduce. I was pretty emotional for a couple hours after, which is not like me. Poor Anesthesia Nurse was in tears… I was reliving a bad day in Cambodia, calling out… I don’t remember much of what I actually saw/said then, but do vividly remember the event. I’m pretty sure I said some things I am under NDA not to mention… and fu*k ’em! It feels good to have told someone! She came and checked on me Mon. I explained (as much as I could) and told her not to think about it too much. Past is the past and somethings are best left there. So I joked about other things and we were laughing, she gave me a hug and a good smile. I felt better. It’s my burden, not hers.
So… It’s good to be back home! Surprisingly, the hospital food the past week wasn’t too bad! Some was even quite good! I am quite amazed! 😆 But instant coffee STILL sux! 😉 😀
They were going to keep me in until tomorrow, but I recover fast, always have. So they let me go today. Even did a bit of laundry this morning! (Just a few things I need, I’m not stupid & know the price of pushing too hard too soon). Got a 2 Mth. Med Cirt. for CL to tell them to piss off & leave me alone, so one less problem to deal with for a couple Months! Was almost worth the pain! 😆

You should understand that “Protect & Serve” was not the first choice for a motto, but “Shoot to Kill” didn’t test well in the focus groups. The biggest problem is that few LEOs [law enforcement officers] would consider backing off and calling for qualified personnel to deal with these situations. Apparently it’s a “manhood test” or something.
It is hard to believe that they have missed appendicitis. You have had abdominal pain for some time. Maybe the new doctors haven’t seen it, like the old staff had. The cutter who did my hernia was considering taking out my appendix since he already had me open, but I declined.
On active duty they required a professional paranoid in the operating room and recovery if a general anesthetic was used and you were in certain specialties.
I was worthless for six weeks after my hernia op. They didn’t want me to do anything strenuous for two weeks after my cataract surgery. Two months seem like a minimal light duty recommendation for major surgery like you had.
Our demons are looking for ways to escape. No one really needs to know what war is really like. We should be working to prevent anyone else for having to endure it. Unfortunately there seem to be no end of “leaders” who think death and destruction are required to accomplish anything.
Yeah… My demons are many & have wanted out for a long time. The older I get, the harder it get’s to keep them locked up. I suspect partly because the older I get, the less I care.
I was moving around OK today. Did some housework, cleaned out the fridge (I made a grocery order last night for delivery this evening to replace what spoiled & other things now that I’ve had to change diet somewhat).
I have an appointment with my shrink in a week Was supposed to be the day I went into Hospital. But now I have another reason to see him. 🙂
I really like these new 12-hour time-release pain killer’s! No waking up every 4 hours to take more. They actually work! Amazing. 😉 😆
Some good news at least that Mueller flipped Manafort & he’s already begun spilling. 😀 The Dem’s are fantasizing that trump will quit within 2 weeks. LMAO That won’t happen! He is a quitter & a coward, but he thinks he’s Emperor & nobody can touch him on the Throne! He won’t go easily. I hope Mueller has really good security around Manafort, Cohen etc. Putin/Trump/GOP have all proven before life means nothing to them & are willing to make problems end. But I suspect Manafort knows that too.
Manafort has worked with GRU/SVR/FSB & Russian ‘mafia’ for years and is definitely aware of Novichok and Polonium 210 that are used to enforce their ‘code of silence’. Prison would be safer that Salisbury Cathedral. I just posted that Mueller just paid for his investigation and a healthy profit with the Manafort deal.
Don’t push recovery. You recover quickly, but some parts of the body don’t know that. The 12-hour are useful if you don’t get too fond of them [as you well know]. The only problem is if you crush the tablet as there is an overdose potential. [I know a guy who did that and it damn near killed him.]
Trump is too stupid to know when he has lost. He only knows how to attack, and then he only attacks people he thinks are weaker than he is.
Yep! True about Manafort. And you and I are in a position to understand & know more than most just what that means. Also pretty sure Manafort/Mueller don’t trust the GOP or their big $$$ backers an inch either!
Don’t worry mate. You know I’m not stupid & know I’m not *Superman* & never have thought that. But I have to admit, the thought of the danger of these med’s crossed my mind the other night. No more problems… It’s the depression talking, I know it. But it’s hard to shake. I’m still too sane & I have people that still care a damn. And I’ve never been a quitter! Plus, I still believe I have one good run left in me. Not at all sure what that is, but something… If I can just get rid of CL, I’d be a lot better off! I am working on it. But there are too many interruptions, like this one. I’m only telling you because I feel you have a right to know, and because I know you get it. *shrug* Way it is. 🙂

My actual concern is that drug companies tend to bury important warnings about real dangers in fine print on the inserts. John just had a bad habit of crunching everything – ice cubes, hard candy, etc. and he did it without any intent. He was never told about the danger of crushing the pill.
Yes, the US Navy will not use ports that the Chinese control after some bad incidents in Asia that resulted in senior officers being “retired”. The Chinese will steal any manual that isn’t locked up or chained to a desk, when they visit US companies doing business in China.
I don’t know why people acted so surprised when Andrew Gillum won the primary. He started early and used social media and e-mail to introduce himself and spread his message. He won on the Panhandle as well as South Florida. The Republicans helped him out by nominating Ron DeSantis, a major league schmuck with no redeeming characteristics who has been sucking up to the Mango-in-Chief for months.
