Blogger is paid for through advertising. Some sites do have adverts running in the sidebar, normally the more popular sites, and the revenue from some of the the ads is split between Blogger and the site owner. You will see a reference to the ad system on the Blogger dashboard.

It is the same with HaloScan commenting, which is free. The small text ads pay for the service.

It is the same model that newspapers and magazines use without the subscription fees, but they aren’t paying for the content, so it works out.

I have just started blogging and have yet to see an advert. Who pays for Blogger? It is out of the goodness of someone’s heart?

WordPress makes it easier than Blogger if you aren’t trying to import a blogroll.

I think the Bloglines feed is painless, but I’d have to check.

Me, I’m too lazy to even add things to my blogroll manually. I pay Bloglines to do it.

Just my little contribution to the concept of ‘outsourcing’.

If it suits your needs, there’s no reason to change and a lot of reasons, not to.

I’m in the business, so I need to try new things so that I can offer different services to my clients. Some of them are talking about doing things with the software involved in running WordPress, so it made sense for me to do it.

That really is amusing..though, I daren’t laugh. I’m still using blogger. I don’t plan to change, anytime soon.
