Actually you are loaning a bank the money, not the Federal government. The banks collect it and make periodic payments to the Treasury, but they get to play with it in the mean time.

I’m waiting for the year when I finally get a package that contains all of the forms I’ve used for the last 20 years.

This is the latest my accountant has ever been in getting the papers to me, for reasons unknown to me. I figure that over the years he’s saved me about as much as he’s cost me… very much a good deal for an independent contractor, especially considering the relative peace of mind of knowing that the job is probably done right.

I had money coming back this year. I hate it when that happens… who wants to provide the feral guvmint an interest-free loan!
