I have to avoid even listening because my biggest client is finishing the annual rush to finish a major project that occurs every June, and year to year they forget how to do it, so I spend a lot of time on the phone.

In addition to the US, I have ties to the English, German, Swiss, and Dutch teams Through my grandparents. I would hate to back any one and put up with the ghosts of the others bugging me.

Locally, the biggest parties are for the Korean team.

Univision and its affiliates (Telefutura and Galavision), the Spanish speaking network, is broadcasting EVERY game (drool, drool, drool). Okay, it’ll be in Spanish, but let me tell you, they speak with a lot more emotion than American commentators… Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you can enjoy the game and, in particular, the 75 second GOAL yell one of the guys makes whenever there’s a score… But, anyway, I don’t really like soccer…

I am wondering the genesis of “weltmeisterschaft” and if that means World- something tournament?

That’s all it needs to be. Around here it’s too organized, there’s not enough time spent just playing. Parents have spoiled the development of great players by making kids play with the coach’s style rather than finding their own.

All I know is that soccor was a lot of fun to play. I don’t have cable so won’t be watching.
