Actually, if it follows the predicted course it will be very good news for central Florida. We have a major problem with wildfires because of an exceedingly dry spring and could really use heavy rain in that area to put out fires and reduce the chance of lightning fires.

The center will be due south this time tomorrow and then curve to the east.

It looks as if you’re right on the edge of the 3-day cone for this one, Bryan. So far, they’re saying it is likely to be mostly a “rain event.” I’m crossing my fingers, and hoping that this Alberto does less damage than the one in DC.

Alberto was the first storm of 1994 [they repeat every 12 years] and it was in July. The Caribbean is warmer than normal but fortunately the Gulf has normal temps.

You should keep an eye out because the Bermuda High is weak and when the storms start coming off of Africa it will be easier for them to head up the Atlantic Coast.

That didn’t take long. The first named storm of 1992, Andrew, didn’t form until August. Global warming has nothing to do with it, right? Right? I wouldn’t want the retiring CEO of Exxon/Mobil to lose any of his pension because of it. /snark

Actually, it is predicted to be a rain event, and they could sure use some rain over there to reduce the fire risk that keeps shutting down I-95.

Yikes…it really does seem that it was only a *blink* ago and Katrina and Rita were barreling down the same pipeline.

Time for more “preparedness” and we will see how this one pans out.
