I think the time of the games makes a big difference, that you can see/hear them during hours when you are normally awake. Another plus are the number of people in the US who have played the game and understand what is going on expands every year.

It really helps that the women’s game is at a very high level of play, equal to the men’s game, and there are a lot of women who really understand and appreciate the game, because they have played it. The football pitch is “a level playing field”, but they wouldn’t let us use the US women’s team at the World Cup. DaMarcus Beasley is trying to catch Mia Hamm to become America’s best soccer player.

If we had actually shown up to play the Czechs, we might not be out. Still, this World Cup seemed to generate more interest than previous ones (at least in my neck of the woods). Next time, there just might be enough interest to get a pool going. 🙂

The Czechs were the first game and first loss. We lost to Ghana today. Solid defense from the US side, but they don’t shoot.

Ghana came through with an absolutely minimal budget. I think they have to lose soon or they’ll run out of money.

The Czechs? I thought we were playing Ghana today–which is even worse, I suppose. At least the Czech economy is in the “second world.”

Karen, it’s going into the armpit…Big Bend of Florida and I’m at the wrist. There are no large cities in the path and Lake City is the biggest town, but it’s inland.

BTW… I can’t quite tell from the NOAA map if Alberto is near to where you are or passing by.
