A group of low-lifes with ties to NEW YORK CITY were caught attempting to sell Coca Cola secrets to Pepsi. While it didn’t involve “The Secret”, this is just another example of the moral decay of the country. There are just some things you don’t do for money.

For shame! Anyone attempting to pollute Pepsi with any part of the recipe for Coke is lower than curdled pond scum!
Actually, I drink regrettably large quantities of both, usually in the diet variety. Neither one does anything to improve my cranky demeanor, except that, in the absence of some sort of caffeine, I’m even crankier. If anyone would like to purchase my recipe for coffee so strong it’s probably illegal in Texas, give me a call; I’m willing to sell.
As a Pepsiholic, I’m proud of my mother planet.
But the real shame would have been the theft of RC Cola or Cheerwine secrets. I believe that would be a hanging offense in these parts.
The way things have been going with Coke, I assume the “new” product was probably “avocado coke” or some such foolishness, as they have been heading that way, rather than staying with the product they can do properly.
Coke has better security than the FBI.
Andante, it is amazing how many people have never heard of Royal Crown Cola or Moon Pies. RC is definitely a local product, but not as local as Cheerwine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Cheerwine outside of the Carolinas, A friend from Charlotte use to get it in CARE packages from her mother because it isn’t sold down here.
I am a Cheerwine mule – my niece in northern Virginia is addicted to the stuff; even makes Cheerwine ice cream. She can occasionally find it at stores up there, but not often enough to feed her habit.
Best diet cola ever – Diet Rite Pure Zero by Royal Crown. It has no calories, carbs, caffeine, or sodium and is made with sucralose. It’s not as ‘sicky-sweet’ as other diet colas and is the only diet cola I can tolerate.

Alright… I may be about to step on toes, but… can’t help it.
First, I was very happy when I heard the story today on the radio. Not because it happened, but because it seems that ethical behavior is still alive (though barely beating) in American corporations…
Second, one of the three people involved is in New York. Yes, there are bad people in New York, just like everywhere else, like Atlanta, where one of the other ones is, and the Mid West, where the third one was. It seems that California was spared this time. New York also has a lot of good.
Third, though I’m Mexican turned Northener (been here for 20 years), I’m actually familiar with RC Cola, but can’t say that during the summer I spent in Greensborough or all the times visiting family in Southern Maryland I became acquainted with Cheerwine… What exactly is it?
I’m a bit of pain when it comes to soda, I must add. I love Diet Coke, but can’t stand Diet Pepsi. On the other hand, I have regular Coke, but love regular Pepsi… Perhaps that’s why I drink diet Sprite (I hate 7up)…

Of course, Pepsi turned them in to Coke, it could have been a Coke dirty trick. They been at for years and it’s usually pretty funny to those watching from the outside. They try to keep it away from corporate, which was the mistake these people made. The “criminals” should have contacted a Pepsi bottler, not corporate, and they would be rich and free.
All Southerners are honor-bound to impute all criminality to New York City, even those of us who were born in New York. Every story is a bigger story if you can bring “The City” into it, which is why to Southerners, New York City includes all of Long Island and parts of Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. When you get to the part of the story and say “New York City” everyone gets to say “Well, of course”. It can’t really be a big crime if it doesn’t involve New York.
Cheerwine is technically cherry soda, but you would have to drink one to understand the attraction, and it is pretty much only sold in the Carolinas.
If you have kidney problems you can’t drink any of the Diet drinks as they all depend on potassium or phosphates, but all types of 7-Up are worse. Regular Sprite is all my Mother is allowed to drink, but she preferred the diet version as having less of an after taste than the other lemon-limes.

Many kinds of Mexican sodas, including Coke bottled in Mexico, are available to me as close as my corner grocery store. Somehow I’ve never acquired the taste. Dos Equis, on the other hand…
I suppose the rest of the country didn’t get the Pace Picante commercials in which the cowboy rants (in a kinda-sorta Texas accent), “NEW YORK CITY???” in his complaint about a competing brand. Pace, made in San Antonio, has improved the product over the years, but IMHO it’s still for wimps, or maybe for Anglos from, uh, New York City. 🙂
They had the ads in San Diego, which was equally silly. Even if I wasn’t ready to drive down to El Indio in Old Town, any of the neighborhood taco shops had better salsa than Pace’s, although you had to get your drinks somewhere else, because they all carried Pepsi and none of them sold cerveza.

Steve, I agree, Mexican sodas (i.e, any type of fruit stuff combined with carbonated water, such as apple, pineapple, etc. and other stuff, such as “sangria” soda, which actually is quite disgusting) are quite on the sweet side. But on the side of Dos Equis, I would have to add a nice Tequila to start things off, Reposado, of course, not Cuervo Especial (otherwise known as Tequila-esque syrup that causes severe hang overs).
