I should hope so, Neil. I’m ex-law enforcement as well as ex-Air Force. These “peace keeping” operations should react under the same rules as law enforcement, which means the use of force when reasonable and necessary. I don’t see why a peace keepers should be more restricted than police.

They do the job assigned to them and would keep the peace whether the politicians really wanted the peace kept or not.

It’s too bad there is no equivalent international force to be used in crisis situations.

Posting the Légion in Lebanon may become an education for all involved. The word one looks for is “forthright”. And yes, a Légonnair does shoot back when being shot at. He aims first too.
