Gabrielle is beautiful, healthy, and born into a family in which (absent planet- or society-wide catastrophe) she will never want for any material thing. It’s the other 299,999,999 I worry about. (Actually, Gabrielle was born about a day too early to be the 300,000,000th. Her father is one of my best friends.)

But I’ve been meaning to get to my book review of “Challenging nature” by Lee M. Silver. He has a few chapters on population growth and GM food and other genetic engineering (most relevant to the sustainable population of the world.)
