Bryan, nobody in Big Business ever has to answer for their deceptive practices. Even if they’re found guilty, they can appeal the verdict until the plaintiffs expire in bankruptcy.

It would be interesting if enlistment contracts were put under Federal Trade Commission oversight and recruiters were penalized for misleading recruits or using deceptive practices.

The unlimited extentions are basically telling the soldiers they are slaves. Who the hell will volunteer now for something that so abuses a person’s rights? A contract is a contract.

Yep, they will promise anything and then claim “military requirements” are “forcing them” to violate most of your “contract.”

I found out later that the language school and airborne were both “volunteer only” assignments. Strange that no one mentioned it at the time.

The military is of the clear opinion that contracts are for suckers.

When my kid enlisted and told me of all their wonderful promises, I informed him that he had made a treaty with the same folks who made treaties with the Indians, and that he would be served the same way.

The day after he arrived for active duty, he called to tell me they had already broken their contract. Quel surprise!
