Federal prosecutors counted immigration violations, marriage fraud and drug trafficking among anti-terror cases in the four years after 9/11 even though no evidence linked them to terror activity, a Justice Department audit said Tuesday.
Overall, nearly all of the terrorism-related statistics on investigations, referrals and cases examined by department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine were either diminished or inflated. Only two of 26 sets of department data reported between 2001 and 2005 were accurate, the audit found.

Can we just stop pretending the new “anti-terror” laws and the new powers they grant have anything to do with fighting terrorism? That was never their intended purpose in the first place. Can we just stop pretending that Bush and his handlers ever had a thought in pushing these laws through other than to use them for domestic purposes, to throw people in jail for the preznit’s own reasons?
They haven’t taken a single step that actually makes us any safer. Every change was designed to increase their power or enrich their contributors, not to safeguard the US.
Fear and intimidation work on the masses. This is ridiculous! Two of 26 sets were accurate in a four year period??????
They were not doing anything, but couldn’t admit it. They haven’t been able to find any terrorists, but they refuse to admit it.
When are people going to realize that two of the largest cases brought against people for funding terrorists were both major donors of the Repubs – the case that just broke and the college professor from Florida.
