This was orchestrated by the Grand Ayatollah. The man has the equivalents of a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Laws. He was trained in religious politics and had to fight his way to the top of the heap. We don’t have anyone in power who can balance him out.

Blair is seriously weakened by going along with the Shrubbery. If those people were released quickly, Blair would probably be forced to resign by his own party to cut their losses.

Blair can’t afford another war.
