I can’t believe the way too many people in the US seem panicked by this concept. These are people who rebuild their homes after floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes, and yet they go all wobbly kneed about the remote possibility of terrorism.

Maybe because my Dad was career military and I spent most of my life living in nuclear strike zones, I just can’t let it change my life.

It could be that almost everyone in Britain, including the Queen, has family stories of being on the receiving end of extreme violence in the form of war and terrorism, that you can deal with it a whole lot better than many in the US.

Just back from central Londond (I work there during the week so it is rare for me to head that way at the weekend!). I couldnt resist taking a look at the prologue. It was a brilliant atmosphere. The Luftwaffe failed, the IRA failed and the islamists will fail.

The not-wife’s mum was on the receiving end of a V2 that destroyed her family house. SHe and her family were trapped in their shelter for several hours.

London always had a lot going on, even when it was the IRA blowing things up, or the Luftwaffe in my Dad’s days.

The commemoration this year is low key, mainly at the behest of the survivors and the families of the victims. One proof of the utter failure of the twisted litle bastards is that today, London hosts the final staes of Wimbledon, a Live Earth concert and the Tour de France prologue.
