The case probably just snaps together. If you knew exactly where the tabs were, you could take it apart, but there is a better chance of just breaking it. Very little is designed to be fixed any more.

Update:she’s back in heat.

Actually the oder has been non-existent.

I’d love to see if I could open the monitor up and perhaps examine the controls to see if they just needed to re-soldered or replaced, but I sure as hell can’t find any way into this flatscreen.
It seems to be sealed shut with no way to enter it.

I remember you talking about Buffy before, and that is a major problem. Most people are unaware that female cats also “mark”.

It’s not just urine, it’s a concentrate that really stinks. You may want to start saving for a new one, because when it gets hot, the odor is going to come back.

I’ve had a certain amount of success with pulling things apart and rinsing them in distilled water, but it’s a roll of the dice.

The office cat, Buffy, recently cooked part of my flatscreen monitor. Not having been spayed (and before anyone goes off on me-she has a heart condition which precludes this operation-the anaethestic would kill her) she goes into heat on occasion. About two months ago as I was working one night very late, she backed up against the monitor and let loose a stream of urine against the monitor. It went black. Took me a moment or two realize what happened…grabbed some paper towels, but it was already inside. I ran the SigOt’s hairdryer and proceeded to blast the monitor with 1200watts of heat. It came back to life, but all the control buttons are fried (no response). I doubt Dell wants to repair it as I believe cat urine is not covered by the warranty.
