I flunked out of quals for UDT because of bad inner ears. Would have been much more exciting than fixing computers.

A neighbor who was an Air Force special materials welder took a class in deep water construction diving from the Navy. He was in RED HORSE, the Air Force’s combat engineering unit.

He didn’t say, but I assume it was for rescue and/or recovery in the Gulf.

I He was really planning to get out to work on the oil rigs.
