There’s nothing I miss about Mobile.
]]>i love the other-world feeling of driving over bridges and through tunnels. for several years i commuted from here to mobile and back every day: 7 mile bridge over the bay, followed by the tunnel, then you get squirted out into downtown rush hour traffic. i miss it.
aesthetically it’s an abomination, and the prices are outrageous, so i probably won’t do the skywalk on my trip to the grand canyon this winter. i’d happily pay the $25 to walk out to the end and look 4000 feet down, but i don’t want to do all that other touristy stuff they package up with it.
]]>The Keys and the interstates bridges around New Orleans would definitely test a phobia although they aren’t very high.

]]>I distinctly remember this segment because I remember that bridge (my parents were from Michigan and we would visit relatives) and we would winter in Florida and going through the Keys was just one long scary bridge with a couple sandy palms to me.
]]>Let’s blame it on Hummers and SUVs.
]]>I dunno; it hasn’t happened to me yet. I’ll cross that bridge when I, um, wait, let me think about this for a moment…
