Whig, Clement is another hack who thinks he works for the President and not the people which was the big problem Gonzales had. The Attorney General is supposed to represent the real government of the US, the people.

It’s not going to make any difference, the Department of Justice is so thoroughly corrupted with partisan political hacks that firing everyone and starting from scratch is the only way of bringing back justice to the country.

Jill, I don’t think it’s a nickname, but merely reflects the fact that the Shrubbery can’t consistently string three syllables together to say Alfredo.

In seriousness, I’m not seeing the problem with letting Clement act as AG indefinitely now until the end of the term. If there’s stuff I should know about Clement that tells you he’s worse than I think, let me know, but it seems like an improvement over Gonzales and that’s unlikely of any prospective nominee.

I certainly don’t think the senate should rush to confirm someone crony and unqualified.

No, impeachment should not be on the table. It should be in Speaker Pelosi’s hand. She should be wielding it like a club, threatening Bush and Cheney with what will happen if they continue their bad behavior. Three-year-old, MFA… Bush at least has behaved that way his entire “adult” life.

Send both of them home. If “home” happens to have bars, guards and razor wire, that’s OK with me too.

Cookie Jill, at first I misread “Frodo” …

While I’m intrigued by the cause of the departure of Rove and Gonzales in quick succession, I am concerned about what happens next. Either we won’t have long to wait (if Bush attempts a recess appointment despite his alleged agreement with Reid), or else we may have a very long time to wait (if Bush attempts to leave Clement in office indefinitely). I’m reserving judgment.
