]]>One of the saddest stories I read in the past couple of years was a story out of the Sandy Eggo area where they had military families relying upon Food Banks because the families were in such dire financial straights due to low pay for our military.
We have a good deal of homeless Vets here in town…we also have lots of people who are food insecure. Not alot of money to go around when you pay close to 70% of your income on rent.

]]>Locally we have people who work at the attractions that shut down for the winter and the deployments among the lower ranks in the military. We seem to have a low unemployment rate, but that is masked by the fact that many people who get laid off never qualify for unemployment and are trying to make a go by working at day labor.
