The major mental health deficit part, though, is not really a problem for getting a security clearance nowdays. Exhibit A: Paul Wolfowitz. Exhibit B: Dick Cheney. Oh fuggit. Exhibit ABCDE: The entire friggin’ Bush Administration. Sigh!

Since this started I have had a sneaking suspicion that this started as a joke by the Miami-Dade cops on the Feds. The guys who patrol Liberty City are well known as gunslingers, and if they hadn’t bothered to throw these guys in jail, they couldn’t be much of a threat. When I first read about this I envisioned a Mel Brooks script, not Tom Clancy.

Give me a break – a group of Haitians with a warehouse in Miami, you know the DEA had the entire operation bugged in no time looking for drugs and came up empty. Before this terrorism thing came up, these guys had been so thoroughly investigated they could qualify for a top secret clearance, except for the fact that they seem to have a major mental health deficit.

Dammit! If I have to make do with fake terrorists, I want good fake terrorists. These simply will not do. My briefs are dry and unsoiled; what kind of "terror" is that, anyway? If this is "homegrown terror," prosecutors had better stick with the international kind; at least some of that is actually scary. These guys are pitiful! Apparently we have found yet another thing the Bushists are incompetent at: finding plausible terrorists to bring to trial.
