For some reason I can’t manage any kindly thoughts towards the waste of billions on a fool’s errand. One would hope that this exercise in corporate welfare is terminated to pay off the national credit card that defends nothing except the profits of a few contractors.

A Cautionary Note to Santa: Check sleigh and reindeer for any surreptitiously placed tractor beams. They are every bit as real and effective as SDI.

Thanks for the “Visit” link. From one of my maternal ancestors (I don’t remember which), I inherited a tiny (2″ x 2″) book titled “A Child’s Bijou” from sometime in the mid-19th century; it contains a very early (and I consider definitive) version of that poem. I’m not at home at the moment, but I’ll compare it with the version you linked. A quick glance through the latter gives me the impression that it’s very close indeed.
