That is something that needs to be addressed, along with some many things, the concept of corporate “personhood”. That is based on a comment, not a legally binding opinion, but a comment on a tax case.

People depend on the media for information, and the media distorts to serve their own purpose.

If someone can convince them that everyone else wants so-n-so to win, they are more likely to vote for that person.

The press has a lot of power. It’s unfortunate for our country that they are owned by rightwing, free-market, social darwinists. It is they who made Bush president. It is they who made sure that Gore and Lieberman were put on the defensive in Florida 7 years ago…it is they who made that staged riot by white men in white shirts and ties…appear spontaneous.

etc, etc. If not for the press, Gore would have been given his rightful place in the Whitehouse, and America would not be in the shit she is now.
