Koshka would sucker Sox into the kitchen slide as she could make the turn, while Sox’s inertia generally carried him into the ‘frig as he backpeddled madly.
]]>one of our family cats used to do sox’ trick, but on purpose. mad dash across the living room [carpeted, good traction], leap onto the coffee table, slide across the highly polished surface and off the other side, scattering magazines and candy dishes, and himself, onto the floor. his favorite variation on that was to dash across the living room, launch himself onto the kitchen rug, and slide across the linoleum. it was especially fun if he could get up enough momemtum to crash into the breakfast table and chairs at the other end of the kitchen.
curmudgeon cat is the only one who drapes himself across my arms while i’m typing.

Enjoy! 😀
]]>Sox doesn’t misjudge the jumps, just his ability to stop after jumping. He jumps up to the table and slides across to fall off the other side – too much lateral vector and too much mass. Koshka was the artist at jumping, achieving zero acceleration when she reached her goal, which allowed her to jump up and sit on the top of open doors.
]]>i have cats, not the other way around, though it could be argued that i have cats the way a dog has fleas. this is certainly curmudgeon cat’s view of the rest of horde.
as for reading blogs, three of them are supervising as i type this. it was going to be four, but that one miisjudged a leap onto the table and fell off into the dog food bowl, precipitating a minor dog- and cat-fit.
]]>Everyone who has ever thought they owned a cat has come to the shocking realization that the cat owns them. 😉 Right? LOL
But I still like cats. 😀 Like I have a choice… LOL
