Well, Hipparchia, neither one of us accepted the party line on the guy. I’ve been calling him a DINO and Repub moderate almost from the beginning and was convinced by his policy statements on his web site. I never had much in the way of patience for his apologists.

i don’t see obama moving to the right, except for that fisa vote, since he did, back in the day, state unequivocally that he’d support any filibuster of telco immunity. oh, well.

but otherwise, he’s been saying a lot of this stuff all along, just quietly, while more loudly promising hope and change and unity.

PFLO, I was reacting to a hit back for their past attacks. The Israelis and Palestinians keep going at it to revenge past attacks and nothing gets settled. That is continuing the circular nature of the problem. At some point you have to say “enough” and try to actually solve some of the problems.

I think McCain is definitely suffering from PTSD, his symptoms are classic, especially the rages. He has refused to deal with the problem, but it won’t go away until he does.

I have no idea what Obama wants to do, and no hint as to what he believes in, if anything. He keeps moving right and his vote for the FISA bill removed any possibility of my voting for him. I take the Constitution very seriously.

I just hope that hot-head McCain doesn’t get into office. Even one of his best friends says he should not be calling the shots as President. This very important revelation for some odd reason was glossed over by the media. He has serious bones to pick with the “brown” people who held him in captivity. Maybe even a little post traumatic stress syndrome thrown in for good measure. Will he take it out on the “brown” people of Iran? Thereby putting all of our lives in jeopardy? At least Obama wants to talk to them. As you have seen over the last year, Obama can talk his way out of anything. That is what we need right now. I am not a racist or have a favorite color. But Obama is brown just like the Iranians. In these tense times I want someone to whom they may be willing to listen.

Ah, Chris, Badtux is sarcastic, not racist. His point is valid: to the people in the government and media, if you aren’t a member of the first world and white, you don’t have any rights and you can’t be trusted.

The people of the Middle East, with the exception of the Israelis are disparaged with regularity by the US government and media. If they weren’t “de-humanized”, there wouldn’t be support for the methods being used by the US government.

There’s a very good reason he signs himself “the Snarky Penguin”.

PFLO, I would like to deal with the present and the future. We have to break the cycle somewhere. The reality is that Iran is rather unique in that it hasn’t conducted an attack on anyone in centuries. I would love to keep it that way.

They also have a long history of throwing everything they own at anyone who attacks them, which needs to be remembered. They don’t scare worth a damn.

Welcome, Dave. One of the big problem is that the Iranians with their finger on the trigger are religious whackos, the Revolutionary Guard. They are the ones who conducted the suicide charges during the Iran-Iraq War. They are “Twelvers”, the group that believes that the Twelfth Imam will show up any day. This is the Shi’ia equivalent of the Christian belief in the Second Coming. We may get an updated version of “Apocalypse Now”.

Well, I admit that my ancestors didn’t arrive in this country until around 1650, and they didn’t start speaking English until 1780 or so.

Nice concept if you don’t know that Abraham was born in Iraq, as was Sarah.

Your basic point is correct, Badtux. No matter how often they lie, the Hedgemony’s propaganda is always given more weight than the truth.

Silly monkey, Israelis are WHITE, as are the leaders of the United States. Iranians are BROWN. Duh. Everybody knows that if white people do it, it’s okay. It’s only a “provocation” if BROWN people do it. Sheesh. You make me wonder if you’re really AmeriKKKan….
