There is just something about the visual presentation that I find distracting from the point being made.

I have the same reaction to Joe Cocker.

I saw an interview with the two guys who started it years ago, and one of the things they were accused of was that the satire was too obvious. They said that as as they were aiming at mainstream America, subtlety would be wasted. LOL Sadly, I think that’s true. They have a knack for taking whatever current(s) event they are lampooning, condensing them to a point, and jabbing people with it. And they go after both sides, and have for years. One of their first clips, ‘Our Land’ was a solid jab at both Bush and Kerry and with good reason. Sure, they could easily make it all more polished, especially now that they have had years of practice, but I doubt they want to, or should.

Some people accuse The Daily Show for being crude and unpolished, and at times it is. 🙂 It depends on what target Jon is aiming at. 😉

I still *enjoy* it, even if it makes me wince occasionally. 😉

I’ve been up for jury duty twice in 15 years.

JibJab is an acquired taste, or lack of taste, depending on your point of view. There’s something about the videos that is annoying and I’m not sure what. It may be the animation isn’t as polished as the words, or the sync is slightly off. The words are funny, but the whole is somehow irritating to me. I don’t watch regular television, so I may have been left behind in video appreciation.

Thanks to Harris County’s aggressive prosecutors (including the one just forced to resign because he was emailing racist jokes), we have more prosecutions (mostly drug cases) than any other county in the nation, so they need a lot of jurors. At least most Americans still have the option of jury trials, though that may change after the Fourth Circuit’s recent ruling about who may be declared an enemy combatant.

There’s a particular model of Microsoft optical mouse (with a cord; I don’t like cordless) that I use whenever possible. It eventually wears out after three or four years, but I really like the response while it lasts. Logitech mice tend to manifest their handedness more strongly than Microsoft; as a switch-mouser, I really feel the difference. Which reminds me… I need to buy one now for use with the laptop.
