It’s the water, not the wind.

The bay and ship channel are going to magnify the effect of the already high surge, and there will be the rains to add to it.

Hurricane Danny stalled at the mouth of Mobile Bay in 1997 and emptied it. It was a small hurricane and only Category 1, but it sucked all of the water out of the bay.

Ike will be pushing water into the bay at Houston and up the channel.

That’s why they want all of the low areas evacuated, because they will definitely be under water.

The Houston/Galveston NWS office hurricane warning statement says “ALL NEIGHBORHOODS…AND POSSIBLY ENTIRE COASTAL COMMUNITIES…WILL BE INUNDATED DURING THE PERIOD OF PEAK STORM TIDE. PERSONS NOT HEEDING EVACUATION ORDERS IN SINGLE FAMILY ONE OR TWO STORY HOMES WILL FACE CERTAIN DEATH.”

That’d work for me…

It is filling the entire Gulf.
