]]>as for more expensive, i sat down and worked it out for some of the brands of dog food that were available several yeas ago. turned out that on a per calories basis, the expensive brands were only a tiny bit more expensive. the cheap brands were putting so much useless filler into their foods that it took humongous amounts to keep from starving the poor beasties.
i haven’t done any recalculating since then, but early on, i switched to the primo food for economic reasons, and the dogs have all lived to be 15+ years [the present one is pushing 13 with no signs of slowing down] and cats making it to 20 years, give or take, so i haven’t seen any reason to change. plus, i feed them all lots of people food, which is what pets ate [along with whatever they could catch on their own] for generations.
i’ve often wondered what all the food giants would do with their leftover scraps if they didn’t have all us pet owners to market them to.
