Amazingly enough, Income is one of the most accurate “leapers” I have ever seen, generally landing at 0G, i.e. a total stop. Sox always puts too much into it and continues on after landing, rather like a bowling ball.

Based on the “debris field” I would guess that he cleared the shelf turning around to try for the fly near the light over the sink.

In the hunt, caution is pitched to the wind.

Cats are like children. They don’t understand the concept of *impossible*! 😀 I know I’ve also said such things as “They won’t reach that.” Only to discover, they did! 😀 Everyone who’s ever had kids or cats understands. 😉

I have to admit, it was a very rare occurrence. But after having a couple of irreplaceable items broken once that we thought were safe, we learned. We never really knew what happened. Just seems the cat’s (we had 2) decided for whatever reason to go nutz and trash the lounge room. We were used to their *crazy half hour* antics, but they were usually confined to ground level and outside. *shrug*

The only way to get there was a prodigious horizontal leap from another cabinet across the way.

No, Ellroon, it is very easy to say “Bad Kitty”, you learn how to do it seconds after you encounter your first cat.

Income is athletic, Jams, but not very bright. It is [fortunately] a rare cat indeed that approaches Ted’s abilities and thought processes.

About two minutes of Sox, who manged to wipe out a microwave when he discovered there’s nothing to stop you from sliding if you jump on a counter with too much force, not even electric cords, will disabuse you of that preconception, Steve.

The one thing that causes occasional exceptions is pursuit of prey, and one can hardly blame them for that. A housemate of mine once lost an antique glass lampshade when the lamp fell over; her cat was far from the scene, acting truly spooked when found, but a tiny lizard was still on the lamp.

Stella’s girls have rarely if ever broken anything… and she has quite a collection of delicate glass objects, handcrafted spice jars, etc. Tabitha and Samantha can step astonishingly carefully through a shelf densely packed with fragile objects. The glass works are in more danger from me… and yes, even from Stella… than from the kitties.

Anyone who has cats (especially that like to jump) and has breakable items on any flat surface, is just asking for trouble! 😉 (As you doubtless know… At least, you do now)! 😀

-> K42, the much saner former cat-owned person! 😉
